Chapter 209
After Nina’s persistent proteus, Durell did not force her to go back to school
Initially, Darrell wanted Nina to attend school because he had no idea about her impressive background. He saw Nina as a young country girl who would have no prospects withinat an education. Staying home was not a solution. A degree from a prestigious university would be useful down the
Now that he knew Nina was not just the prodigious jewelry designer, Violet, fit alin Aley Fletcher, the leading professor at the university he wanted her to enroll in, going to u hond did not term di matter anymore. Nina was already the pride of the school.
was over the moon
No longer needing to attend school, Ning was over
She immediately slashed upstairs to share the news with Charlie and Gabriel. “Guys, Idont need to go to school anymore! I can do whatever i want whenever I want, she exclaimed.
Hearing her words, Galusel remarked. “Your dad is surprisingly easy to convince
Nina giggled and said, “I just did what you did. I told them I was Professor Alex Fletcher and they agreed in let me skip school
“Ales, Fincher! Who’s that?” Gabriel asked, feeling puzzled.
Nina grinned and explained. “You know how I got roped into helping Professor Lawson with his experiments, right? He made me write many academic papers and Clifford published those under the name of Alex Fletcher and credited Lyceum Univeruty.
“It was because of those papers that Lyceum ranked top. Hasically, they wouldn’t be where they are now without me. Do you think it makes sense for me to study there as a student?”
Gabriel nodded and said, “It doesn’t.” Then, his lips curled into a smile and he added. “This way, you and Charlie would be at home and I can come find you guys anytime.”
Charlie shot Gabriel a look and said, “Is it okay if you come every day? Mandy isn’t entirely wrong. My situation is different but if you keep showing sup at the Woods residence, the higher–ups won’t be pleased?”
At the mention of the higher–ups, Gabriel winced. As their golden boy, he really did not want to draw their attention. But staying home was so boring because he was usually the only one at home. It was way better to hang out with Charlie and Nina
Gabriel’s eyes lit up as an idea struck him. Tve got an idea!” he exclaimed.
Charlie looked skeptical “What is it?” he asked
“Maybe I should go to Batonwood and get a gender reassignment surgery. Then I could date Henry and have a perfect excuse to be at the Woods residence: Gabriel said.
Nina and Charlie were speechless.
Charlie’s eyelid started watching as he realized Gabriel did not sound like he was joking.
Charlie already knew Gabriel’s tendency to say outrageous things, but he still could not help but be shocked every time. “Seriously, Gabriel! You’re willing to go this far just to have an excuse to be here?”
Nina was equally shocked. She grabbed Gabriel by the arm and asked, “You’re okay with changing your gender? Really?”
Gabriel’s eyes widened with an almost childlike sincerity as he replied, “Is there really such a big difference between being a guy or a girl! I’d still be que either way Besides, this would make things a lot easier for me. Actually, I’m completely okay with just marrying into the Woods family, but I doubt Mr. Sure would be okay with it.
“Why would be not be okay with it?” Nina asked.
She continued. “If you marry into the Woods, you would be considered one of us and you can live with us as long as you like. Clifford won’t have to deal with those uptight higher–ups coming up with excuses. It’s a win–win
Nina was still trying to convince Cabriel to marry into the Woods family. She just could not imagine what he would be like as a girl. It was way too
“Any way is f
fine for me. But men are possessive. Mr. See likes you, I he wont agree to our marriage,” Gabriel shrugged and said.
y won’t he agree to be my boyfriend! He won’t date me
Hearing this, Nina puffed her cheeks angrily. She complained, “If he really likes me, then why wo but he won’t let me marry you. What is he trying to dor
With a knowing look, Gabriel rubbed his chin and said, “Isn’t it because i thinks he’s not good enough! Maybe he doesn’t want to hold you back
Nina retorted sharply. Then w
why won’t he let me marry another mant isn’t that the definition of holding me back?”

Chapter 209
Gabriel was at a loss for words and gave up trying to explain,
Finally, he furrowed his brow in thought and remarked, “Who would have guessed that Mr. Snee is the possessive type?”
Nina was still holding a grudge over Clifford’s refusal to be her boyfriend. She crossed her arms in frustration and said, “I never would’ve guessed. He looks so proper. But deep down, he’s so twisted. I’ve completely misjudged him”
“Exactly” Gabriel added.
Watching the two of them echo each other’s complaints, Charlie was utterly speechless..
It was hard to say if Nina was a blessing or a curse in Clifford’s life.
Meanwhile, Clifford learned from Jake about the existence of a secret project developing war machines. Without hesitation, he reported the information to the higher–ups.
The higher–ups took Clifford’s report very seriously. They immediately issued directives to increase the surveillance of border activities and allowed for the deployment of war machines if necessary.
After Clifford left the building. Tyrone walked up to him and asked. “Mr. Snee, is it time to activate the war machines?”
“There’s no hurry, Clifford responded.
Clifford heaved a long sigh of relief. He still held an optimistic outlook on the current global landscape. After all, the development of war machines hinged on Simon, who had showed up at Jake’s birthday party two decades ago.
But now that Simon was back with the Lewis family and had lost his memory, it seemed likely that the war machine project was disrupted and no progress was made.
While Clifford was hopeful, he was not entirely without concerns. Ensuring border security was important, but deep down he wanted the war machines to enjoy peace while it lasted. If conflict were to arise again, these moments might become their last refuge of calm.
Tyrone seemed to recall something and said, “I think Susan lives near the border. Perhaps we could assign her to join the border patrol team to assist with the defense.“”
Clifford nodded and said, “Let’s do that.”
Just as Clifford was about to return to the Special Operations Division headquarters, his phone rang.
He picked up his phone and saw that it was a call from Nina
Clifford’s stern and icy aura melted away
he moment he saw Nina’s name. His gaze softened as he answered the call “Hell
is everything okay?”
“Clifford, I have a very serious
serious question for you now, Nina said.
Over the phone, Nina spoke with an unusually serious tone.
Hearing the shift in her phone, Clifford paused for a moment. He was concerned if something went wrong
A sense of uneasiness washed over him. Clifford asked calmly. “What’s going on? Tell me.”
He heard the Nina’s unusually serious tone asking. “Clifford, what do you think? Should Gabriel change genders and marry into the Woods family. or just move in as he is?”
Clifford was dumbfounded.
