Chapter 7

Two Week Later

Violet’s POV

“Oh Ryan, mmm, that feels so good,” I said as Ryan thrust inside me. I wrap my arms and leg around him, wanting him deeper inside me.

“BEEP BEEP BEEP” I woke to the sound of my alarm going off.

“Are you awake, V? We have to get going soon,” Emily said as she knocked on my bedroom door.

“Yes, I am awake. I am getting ready now,” I replied. I looked over at Sofia, still sleeping peacefully, before heading to the bathroom to shower.

I turned the water on and removed all my clothes before entering the shower. As I washed my body with my vanilla- scented body wash, I could only think about the dream I had every night since I met Ryan. In the dream, we always end up having sex, and then he bites into my neck.

I didn’t understand why I couldn’t get him out of my mind. I thought about him constantly. Whenever I thought about the words he said about rejecting me, it brought pain to my chest. Why did it hurt so bad when he said those words, and why did he take it back and then say he accepted me? None of it made any sense to me.

Another thing that didn’t make sense was that I had been feeling weak since that day. I felt like something was missing. A part of me was missing, but I didn’t know what it was. I stepped out of the shower and put on a green sundress. I combed my hair and left it down, then went to wake up Sofia and get her ready for the day.

Emily’s mom about my father and how abusive she was. She cried and hugged me, telling me she would never let anything happen to Sofia or me, that they were Sofia and my family now.

I liked hearing that; I truly felt like they were family in the short time I knew them.

“You need to eat something, Violet,” Emily said.

“I am not hungry.”

“You barely eat anything. You will make yourself sick if you don’t eat.”

I knew she was worried about me, and she was right. I had barely had an appetite since that day Ryan said those things to me. I was always tired and didn’t feel like doing anything but sleep. If I didn’t have Sofia to care for, I would probably stay in bed all the time.

“At least eat your bagel, please,” Emily said

I picked the bagel up, put some strawberry cream cheese on it, and took a bite.

“Thank you.”

After taking Sofia to daycare, Emily and I headed to class. We both had a class at nine o’clock. We both had a finance class because we were both majoring in business.

“That was so boring. Let’s go get something to eat,” Emily said after class, and we headed to a pizza place. A few of our classmates were also in the pizza place getting food.

“Hey, Violet and Emily.” I looked to see a boy name Daniel walking towards us.

“What is he doing here,” Emily said, rolling her eyes. She did not like Daniel for some reason and said he had a crush on me.

“Be nice,” I whispered to her and then looked toward him. “Hey, Daniel,” I said

“I am surprised to see the two of you here,” Daniel said

“Are you really? Because I remember telling Courtney we were coming here earlier, and you were right there listening,” Emily said.

“Emily,” I whispered.

“I am just saying,” She replied

“So, do you mind if I sit with you,” Daniel asked, looking at me.

“Sure,” I said, even though I didn’t want to be bothered. I also didn’t want to be rude by telling him no.

“Would you three like anything else?” The waitress asked, and we told her no. When she returned with the bill, Daniel quickly gave her his credit card, saying it was his treat.

“You didn’t have to do that,” I said

“Oh, it was my pleasure. What type of man would I be letting two lovely ladies pay for their meals?” He said.

“Yeah, thanks,” Emily said and rolled her eyes.

“We have to go pick up my sister. Thanks again, Daniel,” I said, and Emily and I stood to leave. Before I could walk out of the restaurant, Daniel stood and touched my arm. I turned and looked at him to see what he wanted.

“I was wondering if you would like to go out with me this weekend?” Daniel asked.

“Umm, I am busy this weekend,” I said

“Well, what about some other time then? Maybe next weekend,” Daniel asked.

“I am sorry, but I am not looking for a relationship with anyone,” I said. I could see his face become sad.

“Well, how about we hang out as friends?”

“She said no, Daniel.” I froze when I heard that voice that had been haunting my dreams. I turned around to see none other than Ryan standing behind me. His normally blue eyes were black as night.
