Chapter 24
Violet’s POV
I woke up feeling tingles going through me. I could hear the sound of a machine going off, and when I opened my eyes, I knew I was in a hospital.
I looked at my hand and saw someone else’s hand was on mine.
“Violet, your awake.” I took my eyes off my hands to see Ryan sitting beside me with a smile on his face. Suddenly, the memory of what happened came back to me.
I left my room to get Sofia from Traci’s floor but ran into Jane, who asked me to talk to her. We went to the woods, and then she transformed into a wolf. Then Ryan showed up and
changed into a wolf right in front of me.
“Violet,” Ryan said, but I panicked and jumped out of the hospital bed by the wall.
“Please don’t hurt me,” I said as I watched him.
“Oh, Violet, I could never hurt you” Ryan said. Deep inside, I knew I could believe him, but I brushed that feeling aside for the moment.
“But you turned into a huge wolf. You are not human,” I replied
“I am a werewolf, Violet. That is true, but I would never hurt you,” Ryan said

“This is crazy. Werewolves are supposed to be made up. I must be going crazy,” I said
“Trust me, Violet. You aren’t going crazy, Everything you saw really happened, but you don’t have to worry about me or anyone else in this Pack hurting you,” Ryan replied.
“Pack,” I said
“A Pack is the community where we live together. As werewolves, it is a part of our nature to be social and live in groups. We are like a big happy family,” Ryan said
“So everyone that lives here is a Werewolf?” I asked
“Not everyone. Some Witches and humans live here as well. A werewolf sometimes has different types of Mates,” Ryan said
“Witches are real?” I asked
“Yes,”
“How do I know you are not lying to me? Besides, Jane was about to kill me, and she is a part of this Pack, isn’t she?” I asked
“She won’t be for long. You can trust me, Violet. I would never hurt a hair on your body,” Ryan said. I looked at him for a moment, trying to figure out if I could trust him or not.
“Come on, V. If I were going to hurt you, do you think I would have saved you from Jane?” Ryan asked.
“I guess not,” I said, remembering he had changed into a wolf to protect me from Jane. Plus, if he wanted to hurt me, he could have done it a long time ago. So I went back to the hospital bed

“Is Jane dead?” I asked, remembering he bit into her neck and all the blood I saw
“No. She will heal. Werewolves heal quicker than humans. Once she is cleared, she will be sent away from this Pack and turned Rogue for trying to kill you,” Ryan said, causing a shiver to go through me. I couldn’t believe Jane was going to kill me. I was so close to death; if Ryan didn’t come and saved me, I would most likely be dead.
“Thank you for saving me. If you hadn’t, I would probably be dead right now,” I said, and a growl came from his mouth, causing me to look at him.
“Don’t talk like that. Nothing will ever happen to you. Not while I am around. I will protect you with my life forever,” he said, and I could tell by the sound of his voice he meant every word. His hand came to my face, caressing my cheek, causing tingles to go through my body. I closed my eyes and let out a sigh as the pleasurable tingles went throughout my body.
“So beautiful,” Ryan whispered, and I opened my eyes to look at him already looking at me.
“There is something I need to tell you, Violet. Something important that has something to do with you and me,” Ryan said
“What do you need to tell me?” I asked. Before he could
respond, the door to the hospital room busted open, and Emily
ran over to me.
“Thank the Goddess. You are okay, V. I was so scared when I heard Jane took you into the woods. I am going to kill that

**h,” Emily said as she hugged me tightly.
“Watch your mouth, Emily,” Traci said, who was holding Sof hand. Lee was standing beside her.
“We came as soon as Ryan linked us and told us you were awake. Sof has been asking for you,” Traci said
“Oh, come here, Sof,” I said, and Sof ran to me and sat on my lap. We talked for a while, and Sof watched cartoons on the tv in the room. When the Doctor walked inside, Traci asked Sof if she wanted to get some ice cream and go to the park. Of course, Sof was more than glad to get ice cream and play. So, Sof, Lee, and Traci left to go to the ice cream shop.
The Doctor checked my vitals and asked if I was feeling any pain. I told her no, and she said I could leave after signing the discharge papers.
Emily and Ryan stayed with me while I waited for the Doctor to return with the discharge papers.
“Okay, here are the discharge papers. You should go and take it easy for the rest of the day,” The Doctor said
“Thank you,” I replied, and we left. Ryan took Emily and me back to the Packhouse, which was only five minutes away from the hospital.
Ryan and Emily were looking at each other but not saying anything when we arrived back at the house. It was like they were having a conversation only they could hear.
“Well, I just remembered I had something I had to do. I will see you later, V,” Emily said

“Alright. See you later,” I replied, and I looked at Ryan.
“I wonder what she has to do that is so important,”
I said
“Hey, you Hungry?” Ryan asked
“Yeah,” I replied. It was after five in the evening, and I hadn’t eaten all day.
“Then why don’t I go buy you a burger,” Ryan said
“Okay,” I replied, and we returned to his car.

“This burger is so good,” I said as I took a bite of my burger. I was hungrier than I realized.
“I am happy you like it. I brought you here because there is something I need to tell you,” Ryan said, and I stayed quiet, waiting for him to continue.
“Remember when I brought up the word Mates?” Ryan asked
“Yeah,” I replied
“Do you know what a mate is?” Ryan asked
“All I can think about is what Mates are in the books I have read about werewolves. Every one of them says Mates are soul mates,” I replied and took another bite of my burger.
“You read werewolf books?” Ryan asked with a smile on his face

“You are right. I Mate is a soulmate, and every werewolf has one. The Moon Goddes gifts every werewolf with a Mate,” Ryan said
“Have you met your Mate?” I asked.
“Yes, actually I have, and she is the most beautiful woman in the world,” He said with a huge smile on his face.
“Really, who is she?” I asked. For some reason, I began feeling a pain in my chest, hearing he had met his soulmate, but I was shocked by what he said next.
“You are my Mate, Violet.”
