Chapter 20
Violet’s POV
“Okay, but I want you to know I only have eyes for you. You don’t have to worry about any other woman,” Ryan said, staring deep into my eyes. I knew he was telling the truth by his facial expression. He had placed his hand on mine and was caressing my hand with his fingers. The pleasurable tingles and his caress were calming me down.
I was so upset at the waitress for flirting with him. She had no right to flirt with Ryan because he was mine. Why would I even think like that? I barely knew Ryan, and we were not in a relationship. I had no claim on him.
I liked that Ryan had told me he only wanted me and no one else, but why would a handsome, wealthy man Like Ryan want a poor girl like me? So what he told me couldn’t be true. I started to think about what Jane had told me about Ryan cheating on her and messing around with other women. I was sure he said things like that to all the females, and I was no different than them.
“Is that what you say to all your females?” I asked angrily, shocking Ryan.
“Violet, I,” Ryan started to say but was cut off by Sammie, the annoying waitress. “Here are your Drinks, Sir,” she said and placed his drink by him while smiling, then put mine in front of me without taking her eyes off Ryan. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes and feel myself getting upset. I didn’t like her.

“The food will be out shortly.” Sammie said and walked away. I looked at Ryan to see he was already staring at me.
“Look, Violet. I know I didn’t make a good impression on you when we first met, and I am really so about that. You have no idea how badly I wish I could go back and change the way I was to you, but I can’t. All I can do is show you how much you mean to me,” Ryan said.
“How can I mean anything to you? We just met and barely knew each other,” I said for the hundredth time.
“I know it may seem weird to you, but it’s true. I have feelings for you, Violet. More than I have for any other girl. You might not understand now what you mean to be, but you will soon,” Ryan replied, staring me in the eyes. I couldn’t take my eyes off him. It was like I was in a trance. Ryan seemed to be in the same situation as me because his eyes stayed on mine. I didn’t know how long we were looking into each other’s eyes before we heard Sammie, the waitress, clear her throat. Ryan and I tore our eyes from each other and looked at her.
“Your food is ready,” Sammie said and placed our food in front of us. When I looked down, I saw she had brought me, Chicken Alfredo. I looked at Ryan’s plate to see he also had Chicken Alfredo which was what he ordered, but I ordered Lasagna, I guess I should have known she wasn’t paying attention to anything I was asking for when she took my order because she was too focused on Ryan. I decided to let it slide and eat what she brought me. I liked Chicken Alfredo anyway, so it wasn’t that big of a deal, but before she could walk away, Ryan spoke.
“She didn’t order Chicken Alfredo, She ordered Lasagna,” Ryan said, looking at Sammie.

“Oh, I am sorry. I must have heard her wrong,” Sammie replied
“It is alright. I don’t mind eating Chicken Alfredo,” I said, not wanting to make it a big deal.
“No, it is not Okay, Baby. That is not what you asked for” My heart melted at him calling me Baby. Ryan looked at Sammie with a frown on his face. “You would have known what my girl wanted if you weren’t too busy flirting with me. You need to fix it, or I will speak to the manager about how unprofessional you have been acting tonight. It isn’t right to flirt with another woman’s man,” Ryan said, shocking me. I couldn’t believe he had just told her he was my man.
“I am sorry, sir. I will have the cook make her Lasagna immediately,” Sammie said
“You don’t need to apologize to me. My girl is sitting right there,” Ryan said.
“I am sorry. I should have been paying attention to what you wanted,” Sammie said
“Baby, do you accept her apology? Or should we talk to the manager with whom my parents are good friends with,” Ryan asked. I looked at Sammie and could tell she was worried, which made me feel bad. I didn’t like that she was flirting with Ryan, but I didn’t want her to get in trouble with her boss or lose her job.
“I accept her apology,” I said, and I could see her relax.
“Thank you. I will have your food out to you immediately. You can also keep the Chicken Alfredo. Again I am sorry,” Sammie said and walked away.

“You really didn’t have to do that. I was fine with eating this,” I said, pointing at the plate in front of me.
“Yes, I did. I wanted to say something earlier to her for flirting with me, but I didn’t want to make a scene. But when she brought you the wrong food, I had to say something,” Ryan said
“Why?” I asked
“Because you are mine, and I would never let anyone disrespect you,” Ryan said and placed his hand in mine, making me feel the tingles again.
“How can you say I am yours? We are not boyfriend and girlfriend,” I said
“But we could be. Please, Violet, give me a chance to be with you.” I wanted to say yes, but I still didn’t trust that he wouldn’t hurt me again. How could I know he wouldn’t go off on me again like he did when we met? How did I know he wouldn’t have a problem with Sof? It wasn’t just me I had to worry about. I had to put Sofia first. Until I could fully trust that he would be able to accept Sofia as well, I couldn’t be with him.
“I need time,” I replied
