“Why don’t you just go rob a bank?” Melissa repeated, seething.
Avery didn’t argue. She turned to leave, casually remarking, “Well, if you’re not willing to pay, consider that three million as your penalty for breaking the deal.” Melissa trembled with rage but had no choice. Realizing she couldn’t back out without losing the three million, she reluctantly transferred another one million. Once the four million was in her account, Avery wasted no time. She helped Melissa to her feet, kindly guided her to a wall, and then walked off without a second glance. Later, Avery went home, prepared a few of William’s favorite dishes, and grabbed his beloved vodka. After his passing, she always visited his grave on his birthday to tell him how she was doing
Yesterday had been so chaotic that she hadn’t had a chance to visit, and she wondered if he’d be upset with her for not coming sooner.
As she approached the cemetery, she spotted someone kneeling in front of the tombstone from a distance. As she got closer, she realized it was Molly, who was murmuring to herself with tears streaming down her face
“Vivian, ever since Abby’s incident, Howard has been coming home less and less. He’s out with that woman, and when I tried to say something, he threatened to divorce me and kick both me and Abby out of the house.”
Avery treze for a moment. She didn’t know Howard was seeing another woman and planning to kick Abby and Molly out. She might have never believed it if Molly hadn’t said it herself
It seemed that Clyde had completely ghen up on Abby. After all, why else would Howard abandon a daughter who had managed to marry well?
Molly finished her speech and got up to leave, but as she turned around, she saw Avery standing right behind her. Initially startled, Molly relaxed when she saw it was Avery With a hand on her chest, she scolded, “You little brat, you nearly scared me to death.”
Avery frowned. “Stop pretending to be close to me”
Molly snapped, “Now that you’ve gotten close to someone rich, you don’t want anything to do with your pour mother, do you?”
Before Avery could respond, Molly collapsed to her knees again, crying “Vivian, why is my life so hard? Howard’s heartless, and Avery’s a cold–hearted monster
Her walling soon attracted passersby’s attention, and she cried even louder when she saw the growing audience.
Avery, deciding to burn the tables, suddenly melt beside Molly with a dramatic “thud.She pinched her thigh hard, causing real tears to spill from her eyes,

Before Avery could finish, Molly was frantic “You brat, stop lying! she shouted, pane evident in her valce.
Seeing the angry expression on Molly’s face only made Avery cry even harder. She thought that acting was a piece of cake.
Just them, Joshua arrived. He saw Avery crying pitifully on the ground, her face tear–streaked, while Molly stood nearby, looking flustered and angry. A crowd of onlookers was gossiping excitedly
His brow furrowed. He strode over, pulling Avery into his arms and lifting her off the ground
Avery, who had been crying non–stop, was startled when she was suddenly lifted into his embrace. She looked up at him, meeting his deep eyes, and felt a hringe of embarrassment for a moment.
Joshua noticed her swollen eyes and the tears still clinging to her lashes. He wondered if his sudden appearance had frightened her into stopping her sobs, leaving her just staring at him with a pitiful expression. His heart softened as he gently wiped away her tears.
He shifted his cold gaze to Molly. “And what are you doing here?”
“Mr. Smith..” Molly trembled at his icy tone, shivering with fear. She never expected Joshua to show up today.
