Chapter 31
Not only that, but the internet was flooded with intimate photos of Clyde and Abigail Even the video from Avery’s wedding, the one she had played during the ceremony, was brought up again.
The comment section was full of insults, calling Abigail names like “shameless” and “homewrecker“. Avery glanced at them for a moment but quickly lost interest
James laughed with delight. “Well, it looks like that pair of scumbags is completely ruined now. What a great day to celebrate!”
Avery didn’t respond but instead gazed out the window at the darkening sky, lost in thought.
No wonder Nathan came looking for Joshua today it must be because of what happened to Clyde. But it seemed like he was asking the wrong person for help.
The fact that Abigall’s pregnancy had only come to light because of that fall at the banquet earlier today and that it had spread so quickly in just a few hours suggested that someone had been stirring things up behind the scenes.
She couldn’t help but wonder if Clyde would still take responsibility for Abigail after all this drama.
The thought of those two fighting it out made her der) a surge of satisfaction. She couldn’t let them break up so easily. After all, they had once loved each other so passionately. If they couldn’t end up together, it would be a real shame
As she was contemplating how best to keep the two “lovers” tied together, she was suddenly jolted out of her thoughts by James‘ loud voice.
“Avery, is it really that boring being with me?”
She rubbed her ears, which were ringing from the volume, just as she was about to complain, she turned to find James looking at her with a pout. “I took you out to have some fun, but you’re just zoning out on me!”
Seeing that he was about to keep rambling, she quickly covered his mouth with her hand, effectively muting him. The world suddenly grew quiet.
She let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, she was quick enough, or she’d be listening to him talk endlessly. But after a while, something felt off.
She turned to look at James and was startled to see his face bright red. He was frozen in place, as if he had been spellbound. He wasn’t even blinking. Pankking, she immediately released her hand. “Are you okay?”
But he still didn’t respond.
Worried, she reached out to check his pulse. The moment her hand touched his wrist, she heard him suddenly burst out laughing,
“See if you dare cover my mouth again!” He laughed so hard that his face grew even redder.
She shot him a glare “You scared me half to death!”
She reached for the car door, but seeing her about to leave, James immediately stopped laughing and quickly begged for forgiveness. “I’m sorry! I won’t mess with you again, so please don’t gal
Then, he changed the tople, looking helpless. “Hey, did you put the bracelet I gave you away again? It’s supposed to be worn at all times to keep you safe. If you put it away, it stops working”
Avery blinked and looked down at her wrist, realizing that the bracelet James had given her was nowhere to be found. She was sure she had been wearing it, so how had it disappeared?
James, seeing her confused expression, couldn’t help but laugh. “You didn’t lose it again, did you?
“U” Avery looked embarrassed
James tried to reassure her, “Well, if you lost it, don’t worry. Maybe it was protecting you from something bad!”
