Chapter 24
Clyde felt increasingly agitated as Howard’s words sunk in. His eyes were fixed on Avery, and it was as though he could burn a hole through her with his gaze.
If Avery hadn’t started courting Joshua and if she had just agreed to marry him, he could have gotten 30% of the Sinclair family’s shares and quietly kept Abigail on the side without anyone knowing. Everything would’ve been settled without this uncomfortable mess.
“I see that kneeling in front of the family mausoleum last time didn’t teach you a lesson. When we get back, you’ll kneel again until Grandpa comes back,” Joshua said, his tone full of authority.
Clyde felt an instant sense of relief. He had been struggling to escape from Howard’s grip, and now, Joshua was practically handing him the way out. Of course, he wasn’t going to let that slip by.
Without a word, he turned and quickly made his way to the door, almost as if he feared they would stop him if he delayed. But just as he reached the door, someone called out to him.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Avery’s face showed mock surprise, as though she didn’t understand his behavior at all.
“I’m going back to kneel in the family mausoleum as Uncle Joshua said.”
Avery couldn’t help but marvel at the way he managed to say such a pathetic thing with so much bravado.
“I said you’ll kneel again when you’re back. I never said you could leave right now.” Joshua’s en bother to look at Clyde as he spoke as if even
voice dripped with disdain, and
glancing at him would soil his eyes.

“I thought you were just blind, but I didn’t realize you couldn’t even understand basic human speech.”
Avery couldn’t help but laugh. She hadn’t expected Joshua to be so skilled at putting people in their place.
Clyde’s face turned bright red. He opened his mouth to argue, but before he could speak, Joshua continued, “With your attitude, you can’t even manage the company. When we get back, hand it over to Benjamin to run.”
“That’s my company, and it was given to me by Great–Grandpa! You have no right to take it!” Clyde was immediately defensive when he heard Joshua talk about taking his company. Don’t think you can bully me like this just because Great–Grandpa and my father are not around.”
Joshua lifted his gaze, looking at Clyde with a mocking smile. “What are you going to do about it?”

Clyde’s face turned even redder, and his lips trembled as he tried to say something. However, he couldn’t form the words. He stood there, utterly stunned.
Avery watched the scene unfold, and a sense of satisfaction washed over her. She gently squeezed Joshua’s arm and said softly, “Honey, why bother arguing with someone like him? Calm down. Getting worked up isn’t worth it.”
Clyde, already furious, was about to respond when Howard interjected, “Clyde, let’s focus on the matter of you and Abby for now,” he said, hoping to steer the conversation back to his
main concern.
He was determined to make Clyde take responsibility for Abigail. As for the issues between Clyde and Joshua, he wasn’t interested in getting involved.
Clyde, already furious, let out a cold laugh upon hearing Howard’s suggestion. “What’s there to discuss? She’s the shameless one, always chasing after me. Now, she wants me to take responsibility?”
Abigail’s face twisted in disbelief as she looked at Clyde. “Y–You… How could you say that about me?“!
“Are you trying to play the victim now?” Clyde scoffed. “Wasn’t it you who climbed into my bed in the first place?”
Abigail was left speechless, her mouth hanging open. Beside her, Molly was equally stunned. She was clearly shocked by Clyde’s sudden cruel words. She glared at Clyde but, aware of his position, chose to remain silent.
