Chapter 7
After a few days, Sullivan came home toni a dinner meeting in an inebriated state. Madeleine was already in bed, and it looked like she was fast asleep, so he headed to the bathroom.
But when the shower started running. Madeleine’s eyes flew open. She glanced at the bathroom door before sending a text right away “Come over
over to my place at once.”
20 minutes later, Isabel knocked on the door.
Madeleine crept downstairs to let her in before passing her a lacey nightgown, saying, “Put this on and sleep in the master bedroom.”
After hearing what she said, Isabel glanced at the nightgown. Instantly, she realized what was happening. Her heart began pounding wildly, threatening to leap out of her chest. At Madeleine’s urging, Isabel snapped back to her senses. She hurried upstairs, got changed, and climbed into bed.
Not long after that, the bathroom door opened. Clad in nothing more than a towel, Sullivan dried his hair as he stepped out. When he lifted his head, his gaze fell on the bed, making him pause.
Perhaps realizing that he hadn’t kept up his end of the deal for some time now, he walked over and pulled the woman on the bed into his arms with ease. Then, still sounding a little drunk, he asked in a hoarse voice, “Your period’s over, right?
Before Isabel could figure out what that question meant, she felt the bed sagging behind her. A warm breath washed over her neck, and a large hand began roaming along her waist. She stiffened at the heat, and her breath hitched.
A muffled chuckle rang out behind her. She felt the kisses peppered against her neck and ear. She never had a boyfriend before, and all of this was too much for her to take. She couldn’t resist gasping.
Immediately, Sullivan froze. He scrambled off the bed as he exclaimed in disbelief, “Isabel?”
Down in the living room, Sullivan was sitting on the couch with a mortified Isabel wrapped in a blanket beside him.
Sullivan’s expression wa
was as dark as night as he fixed his eyes on Madeleine, who was seated on the side, and asked, “What on earth is going on?
Madeleine didn’t expect him to figure it out so soon. She squirmed a little on the inside, but she came up with an excuse to brush the matter aside. “There was a blacknut over at Isabel’s place, so I told her she could stay here for the night.”
“Why was she sleeping in the master bedroom? Sullivan questioned, evidently not buying into Madeleine’s reasoning.
Madeleine hesitated briefly before replying, “The guest bedroom hasn’t been tidied up yet. I figured that since it was only for a night, she could have the master bedroom
Sullivan’s eyes were blazing with fury. He was so furious that even its chest hraved. While he still didn’t believe Madeleine’s excuse, the priority now was to Isabel back to her place. Thus, he reled in lila emotions and dragged Isabel off without another word.
How was to take
By the time he came back to the villa, Madeleine had already returned to the bedroom. Now that the two of them were the only ones in the room, he no longer held
his anger bark.
He had long since noticed that Madeleine was behaving strangely, and finally, he couldn’t resist asking, “What the hell are you trying to do, Madeleine? What’s the meaning of all Hus? Have you found a new way to forment us now!
His blunt, harsh words came as a shock to Madeleine. She never thought he would think of her this way. Her heart ached as if it had been unashed with a hammer, “I just thought that since 1
She had just begun blurting out her explanation before she regained her senses and trailed off without completing her sentence.
Sullivan eyed her grisly and urged, “Since you what? Go on.”
