Chapter 8
“Daph, are you okay? Say something. Maybe you should apologize to Mr. Farrell…” Seeing Daphne stay silent, Ava assumed she was too shaken to respond and tried to come up with a solution
But Daphne immediately shut her down. ‘There’s no way I’m apologizing to Wilson Farrell. I didn’t do anything wrong, so why should I apologize?”
The mere mention of Wilson reignited her energy.
Sitting upright, she reassured Ava by explaining that Hugo’s unreasonable compensation demand would never hold up in court. She promised to hire the best, most formidable lawyers to fight the case, urging Ava not to worry at all.
Daphne also took the opportunity to share her plans about starting a new company.
Ava was utterly shocked. She knew better than anyone about Daphne’s history of failed business
ventures, 50.
“Daph, are you sure you want to run your own company? It’s not that I don’t trust you, but honestly, your talent for business is…” Ava trailed off in an extremely cautious tone.
She knew that once Daphne set her mind on something, no amount of persuasion could change it. Still, she felt Daphne shouldn’t waste her money like this.
Daphne understood exactly what Ava meant and responded cheerfully, “Not me. You.”
Ava was stunned. “Me? What do you mean?”
Daphne’s plan was perfectly calculated. “You’ll manage the company. I’ll give you 20% equity, and I’ll handle all the funding. We can also sign new talent. You’ve got experience managing artists. If we make a few stars, we’ll become powerful players. Then, no one will be able to push us around.
Daphne, who had been mentored by Ava since her debut, had full confidence in her capabilities.
She knew her own limitations–she wasn’t cut out for business. If she ran the company herself, it
would undoubtedly end in disaster.
Ava was both flattered and overwhelmed. “Daph, are… you serious?”
The news was so shocking that Ava couldn’t process it immediately.
Daphne nodded firmly. “Of course, I’m serious. I’m counting on you to make us rich!”
After Ava’s call disrupted her morning, Daphne couldn’t fall back asleep. She decided to get up
and continue her search for an office space.
At the third location she visited, Wendy suddenly shoved her phone in front of her face. “Daphne,
look at this! Our fans are all bashing Yvonne online!
Daphne took off her sunglasses in confusion and glanced at Wendy’s screen. “Yvonne? Why are
they bashing her? Shouldn’t they be going after Hugo?”
She frowned, feeling genuinely puzzled about what her fans were thinking. She then opened her
own account to investigate.
The hashtag #DaphneYeagerTerminatesContractWithStarstruckEntertainment
top of the trending list, accompanied by a glaring “currently trending” tag.
Daphne sighed in exasperation.
had shot to the
Seriously? When she was working so hard on her acting, she couldn’t even crack the trending list,
but a contract termination did it?
This world really was absurd.
She opened the comment section and, as expected, found plenty of fans bashing Yvonne.
“Daphne was married to Mr. Farrell for so many years and never got the endorsement for Story.
How long has Yvonne been in the industry? She got it just like that.”
“Who’d believe there’s nothing shady going on? A married man hooking up with a homewrecker
They’re both disgusting!”
“Starstruck Entertainment has earned so much from Daphne over the years, and now, they’re
terminating her contract without warning. There’s got to be some shady business behind this.”
“Mrs. Farrell gets hit with a contract termination and a ridiculous compensation claim, and there’s
no response from Farrell Group? It looks like Mr. Farrell is fully siding with the mistress now.”
“The rumors about Mr. Farrell and his mistress, Yvonne, have been all over the place! People tried
to defend them before, saying they were innocent. But now? Seems like it’s true, after all.”
“Poor Daphne. She’s so beautiful and talented, yet she has to deal with Yvonne, that scheming
bitch. Mr. Farrell is not loyal at all, but Daphne will shine even brighter after leaving Starstruck.”
“Haven’t you seen that Starstruck is demanding ten billion dollars? If Mr. Farrell doesn’t step in,
there’s no way Daphne can pay that.”
“Ugh! This makes me so mad. It’s all Yvonne’s fault! She’s such a shameless snake. She pretends
to be all pure, but she’s a master manipulator. Daphne doesn’t stand a chance against her.”
Daphne’s lips twitched as she scrolled through the comments.
These fans weren’t entirely wrong. However, they probably didn’t know she and Wilson were
already divorced and that bitch, Yvonne, was about to take her place.
“Should we respond now?” Wendy asked, still feeling disoriented after leaving the company.
Should we contact Ava?”
Daphne nodded. ‘We should respond, but only address the contract termination. Say it was my
decision to terminate it. Ignore everything else completely.”
Now free from the constraints of her former agency Daphne no longer felt the need to tread
carefully
Hugo, that money–grubbing scumbag, had thrown her under the bus just to please Wilson. She certainly didn’t owe him any courtesy.
When Daphne’s statement was released, it sparked yet another wave of discussion.
It wasn’t because her statement carried much weight–it was because it was so brief. The response didn’t touch on the things netizens were most curious about.
She said nothing about Wilson or Yvonne, but the ambiguity left a subtle sense that something.

“Daph, we know you’ve been wronged. Our queen deserves better! Don’t waste your tears on that scumbag, that snake, or that greedy company. We’ll rebuild and rise again!”
“Shitstruck was never good to Daphne in the first place Terminating the contract was the right
choice.”
“Do you think Mr. Farrell had something to do with this? Would Starstruck dare to act against
Daphne without his hinting at it? Could it really be that Yvonne succeeded in taking over?”
As she read through the comments, a small smirk played on Daphne’s lips.
The public’s eyes were sharp, and the excuses from that shameless couple could only convince
themselves.
Public opinion was a double–edged sword–it would hurt people most of the time, but it could still yield unexpected results when used wisely.
Negative comments about Yvonne and Wilson spread rapidly, while Daphne’s lack of response
only fueled endless speculation among netizens.
Since Daphne’s statement didn’t mention either of them, Yvonne had no way to address or clarify
anything directly. This only reinforced the belief that her silence stemmed from guilt
In just a few hours, Daphne’s follower count increased by tens of thousands. It was as if fans
rained down from the sky while she was just sitting at home. This strategy also won Ava’s
approval
“Daph, you handled this perfectly. We’re at a disadvantage right now, so it’s better–not to clash with Farrell Group head–on. We’ve kept it clean by only addressing the contract termination. If
Yvonne gets backlash, it’s not our problem. And Wilson won’t have a reason to pick a fight.”

been sticking to a low–calorie diet for years to maintain her figure.

“Not responding is the best response. Let the netizens speculate all they want. Huh, looks like
you’ve got a nice routine going. Yoga, too? I havent done it in ages,” Daphne said casually when she noticed Ava rolling out a yoga mat.
“Yeah, it’s been a while. My back’s gotten stiff. Work was so stressful before, but now that things.
have slowed down, I want to focus on planning my life better.”
Ava’s words got Daphne thinking. She glanced down at her half–eaten fruit salad, realizing it had
been ages since she had allowed herself a proper, satisfying meal. She dumped the salad into the
trash without hesitation
“You’re right. It’s time to start planning a new life. Im going out to enjoy myself for once.”
