When Daphne heard Sebastian agree, she let out a faint sigh of relief. “Alright, it’s settled. Let’s find an opportunity to meet and discuss the details.
Her gaze fell on the steering wheel, where the leather cover now bore visible nail marks. Only
then did she realize how tense she had been moments ago.
The bustling city carried on as always outside the car window, full of life and activity.
In her previous life, her greatest mistake had been devoting herself entirely to Wilson. She had a promising career and future, but she let it all slip away.
In this new life, she was determined to pull herself but of the wreckage of her failed marriage
with Wilson and take a completely different path
After regaining her composure, Daphne pulled out her phone, intending to ask her friends for recommendations on potential locations for her new company.
However, as she scrolled through her contacts, she suddenly realized most of her friends were
mutual acquaintances with Wilson. During the seven years of her marriage to Wilson, Daphne
barely maintained a social circle of her own.
She couldn’t entirely blame herself, though. Back then, Wilson had treated her so well–personally
handling everything and spending all his free time with her. Apart from her time spent filming
nearl all her days were spent with him.
A pang of bitterness welled up in her chest. Tossing her phone onto the passenger seat, she
decided to drive around and search on her own.
Finding a suitable location wasn’t an easy task. It involved visiting multiple places and carefully
considering the costs.
Though Daphne wasn’t strapped for cash, she still wanted to spend wisely.
Once the new company was established, expenses would pile up quickly, and if cash flow ever
became an issue… Well, she no longer had another Wilson to fall back on.
After a day of scouring office buildings, Daphne dragged her exhausted body back home. The
house was unusually brightly lit.
She couldn’t remember the last time it was like this. Wilson rarely came home, and even when he
did, it was in the middle of the night.
Glancing at her phone, she noticed it was only 7:45 pm. How strange, indeed. Daphne then headed. straight for her bedroom without sparing Wilson a glance.
“Daphne.” Wilson’s voice stopped her in her tracks,
Daphine instinctively paused but quickly realized what she was doing and Kept walking without
hesitation.
Wilson frowned impatiently. He stood up, stepped in front of her, and grabbed her arm. “I called you. Didn’t you hear me?”
“If you have something to say, just say it.” Daphne pulled her arm back in annoyance. “We’re divorced now, so don’t touch me Unless you want your little vixen to go crying to you
Wilson disliked her sharp tone–it was too abrasive
But he didn’t have the time to argue about that. “You’re moving out tomorrow.”
u again.”
Daphne looked up as though she had just heard a joke. “Mr. Farrell, did I mishear you? The
property division agreement clearly states this house is mine.”
A cold glint flashed in Wilson’s eyes as he pursed his lips. “I can compensate you with a bigger
one”
Daphne felt irritated. She hated when people spoke to her in a commanding tone, especially when it was her infuriating ex–husband, who was standing in front of her.
“No,” she replied bluntly before turning to leave.
But Wilson wasn’t about to let her go. He blocked her path again. “Daphne, don’t be ungrateful.”
This time, his tone clearly showed he had run out of patience.
Pushed to her limit, Daphne snapped and shoved him, though he didn’t budge. “Wilson Farrell, are you out of your mind? You’re the one who insisted on giving me this house. Now, you want it back? What’s the matter? Are your other properties haunted, so you’re fixated on this one?”
The house they were in was their former marital home, with each decoration a show of Daphne’s effort. She had grown attached to it.
Wilson owned plenty of other properties, but she loved this one the most, which was why she had. specifically requested it during the divorce settlement.
She never expected Wilson to go back on his word.
Wilson let out a cold laugh. His tone dripped with disdain as he said, “If it isn’t because Yvonne likes this place, do you think I’d waste my breath on you?”
Daphne laughed bitterly. Of course. It all came back to Yvonne, that meddlesome homewrecker.
She stared at Wilson’s face with a sneer and clenched her teeth in fury. “Wilson, does it make it more thrilling for you to move your mistress into our marital home?
“Yvonne’s tastes are certainly bold. Does she want everything I’ve ever used? The man I slept with, the house I lived in, even the bed I laid on? Should throw in a few pairs of my old underwear for
her to wear too?”
“Daphne!” Rage flared in Wilson’s dark, brooding eyes that were burning like an inferno.
He abruptly grabbed Daphne’s chin and said in a chilling tone, “Daphne, you clearly don’t know how to behave. Do you realize this house is still under my name? As for that property division
agreement, it can be voided with just a flick of my finger.”
Wilson’s grip was strong, and Daphne felt the pain but her expression remained unchanged, She
was in the right and absolutely could not lose.
She slapped his hand away and said with a cold smirk on her face, “You think you’re so powerful,
huh? If you’ve got the guts, just kill me. Once I’m dead, you and Yvonne can do whatever you want.
I know you’re capable of it!”
Her smile was dripping with sarcasm as she spoke. Daphne was fully aware of how ruthless
Wilson could be. His actions in her past life had left no doubt about that
She knew she shouldn’t provoke him, but she couldn’t stop herself.
Wilson faltered for a moment as he was momentarily dazed by this defiant version of Daphne, His
grip loosened slightly. Taking the chance, Daphne broke free and went upstairs to her room.
Halfway up the stairs, Wilson’s icy voice suddenly rang out. “Daphne, I won’t kill you. But I’ll make sure
you pay for the mistake you made today.”
Daphne’s steps paused slightly, and her fingers tightened on the railing.
She lowered her head, her voice carrying an emotion Wilson couldn’t decipher. “If anyone wants
me dead, it’s you.”
Once back in her room, Daphne threw the blanket over her head. The memory of Wilson’s face
from earlier filled her with rage.
He had the nerve to say he wouldn’t kill her–what a joke. If that was true, how did she die in her past life? Using those kinds of videos to threaten a female celebrity was no different than driving
her to her death.
Thinking about it, Daphne’s hatred for Wilson grew even deeper. She eventually drifted into a
restless sleep while she was consumed by this bitterness.
In her dreams, she once again relived the scene from her past life–Wilson throwing her onto
Sebastian’s bed
In the dream, she knelt before Wilson, begging for mercy. But he remained unmoved and was as cold and unfeeling as a stone statue.
The next morning, Daphne was jolted awake by an onslaught of notifications. Her phone buzzed.
incessantly, with most of the calls coming from Ava.
She picked up the phone while rubbing her eyes groggily and returned Ava’s call. Her sleepy voice was soft and hoarse as she asked, “Ava, what’s going on? Why are you calling me so early?”
Ava let out a dramatic sigh. “Oh my god, you’re actually still sleeping! That scumbag, Hugo, just
made an official announcement–he’s unilaterally terminating your contract with the company!”
Daphne remained calm. She had expected Hugo to pull something like this, though she hadn’t
anticipated him to move so quickly.
“What else would he have done? Knowing Hugo, he wouldn’t let me off that easily, right?” Daphne said while flipping onto her side, sounding steady and unbothered.
Ava chuckled bitterly. “You’re right. They’re demanding ten billion dollars in compensation. It’s
supposedly based on a professional evaluation of your current commercial value Congratulations,
you’re officially the highest–valued actress in the entire entertainment industry.”
Whatever “professional agency Hugo hired to come up with such an outrageous figure must have
specialized in daylight robbery.
Daphne was speechless.
