Chapter 43
Wilson’s voice carried an icy chill. “Daphne, do you think having Sebastian backing you means you can do whatever you want? Don’t push your luck, and don’t forget your current situation and
status.”
Daphne was tired of these pointless verbal games and had no interest in trading barbs with Wilson anymore. She replied, “Wilson, if I don’t drop the lawsuit, your precious darling’s reputation will be ruined. I don’t need to remind you about the public backlash against her online, do 17”
She paused before continuing. “As Story’s parent company, you know better than I do how a spokesperson’s scandal affects Farrell Group. We can discuss other matters after you terminate
the contract, but until then, I have nothing else to say!”
With that, she quickly hung up the phone. As she listened to the dial tone, Daphne felt immensely
satisfied.
She knew Wilson well enough to predict what he would do. When it came to choosing between the
company’s interests and Yvonne, the decision was obvious. By 10:00 am the next morning, her
instincts proved correct.
Story officially announced the termination of their contract with Yvonne. The statement clarified
that Yvonne no longer represented the brand but remained vague about the reason, citing
unforeseen circumstances” as the cause. Beyond that, it left the public free to draw their own
conclusions.
The internet exploded with comments.
User 1: “Look, Yvonne, who broke up Daphne’s marriage, just lost her Story contract. Does this mean she has lost the Farrell family’s protection?”
User 2: “I knew this was coming. That shameless homewrecker deserves it. Let’s see how far she goes without the Farrells backing hert
User 3: “This is just a normal short–term contract ending! Yvonne worked hard to land her endorsements Stop the hate!”
Amid the sea of mocking comments, the few defending Yvonne were quickly drowned out. Daphne scrolled through the comments under the announcement; feeling a mix of satisfaction and clarity.
Nonetheless, she knew Wilson would not let this slide so easily. From the ambiguous termination announcement, she could see how Wilson had done his best to preserve Yvonne’s career options.
It seemed that the jerk would really go all out for his precious princess. Daphne remembered when she was drowning in scandals years ago and asked Wilson for a position as Story’s regional ambassador, yet he had ruthlessly refused.

The memory of that rejection still stung. She had been so painfully naïve. After her rebirth, she
tried not to dwell on the past, but Wilson’s actions never stopped cutting into her. Even though she
didn’t love him anymore, ten years of shared history made his heartless treatment hard to bear.
Wilson’s call came through quickly, and Daphne pushed aside her feelings of melancholy. She sarcastically answered, “Mr. Farrell, you sure work efficiently when it’s for love.”
“Isn’t this what you wanted? Now, you can drop the lawsuit and stop damaging Yvonne’s reputation further,” Wilson replied.
“Fine, but I want those fans to write handwritten apology letters and pin them to their profiles. permanently. If you can get your little vixen to make that happen, I’ll drop the cases immediately.” Wilson was silent for a moment, surprisingly not arguing about her nickname for Yvonne. “Fine.”
Yvonne had been crying in Wilson’s arms for over half an hour. Ever since her top fans had publicly apologized to Daphne, her tears had not stopped.
“Will, have you seen how they’re trashing me online? They’ve been mocking me for days just because of this contract termination”
Wilson generally disliked women crying, but Yvonne had genuinely been wronged in this situation. Hence, he could only comfort her patiently.
