Reborn to escape the ending Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Daphne felt a faint trace of melancholy wash over her.

Didn’t Wilson put Daphne through a tough time then as well when he forced her to quit the role in a famous director’s movie just to pave the way for Yvonne’s success?

“Do you really have to go this far to protect her? Don’t forget that we’re still married now, Wilson. She’ll remain a mistress until we get our divorce certificate!” Daphne glared at Wilson with burning hatred in her eyes.

“You!” Upon hearing her words, Wilson’s expression soured even more as he grew increasingly upset. “You’ll never learn to be gentle and likable!”

Daphne would definitely be hurt by what Wilson had just said if it were in the past. But now, she didn’t want to waste time on Wilson anymore.

She lowered her head to look at the watch. “Are we still going to proceed with the divorce procedures today? I have an important meeting in the afternoon. Don’t waste my time if we’re not doing it today,” she urged.

“A meeting? With who?” Wilson blurted out asking.

Before Daphne could retort, Yvonne interrupted, “Ms. Yeager has her freedom to meet with whoever she wants, right, Mr. Farrell? Don’t you want a divorce anymore? Why are you asking a question like that?”

Yvonne sounded even more aggrieved now, and there was a hint of tremor in her voice.

Wilson came to realize what he had just asked. He caressed Yvonne’s hair lightly, comforting her. When he turned to look at Daphne, he wore an indifferent gaze. “Let’s do it now!”

As they walked out of the courthouse, Daphne felt a sense of relief as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

On the contrary, Wilson was slightly absent-minded. To his surprise, Daphne hadn’t hesitated one bit when she was signing her name. She neither made a fuss nor regretted her decision. She really wanted a divorce, and she wasn’t playing any tricks.

Wilson hesitated a little when he was holding the pen. But when he remembered that this was a hard-earned opportunity to get a divorce, he immediately signed his name. After all, he couldn’t let Daphne have another chance to pick on Yvonne.

“We have a one-month cooling-off period. I hope you don’t cause any trouble. Also, stay away from Yvonne,” Wilson warned before getting into the car.

Yvonne bashfully tugged Wilson’s sleeve. She remarked empathetically, “Please don’t talk to Ms. Yeager like that, Mr. Farrell. She’s your ex-wife, after all. I believe she won’t do anything to me…”

“I can’t guarantee anything, though.” Daphne smirked on purpose. “I might give you a hard time in the industry, who knows?”

Yvonne already started to emphasize Daphne’s identity as his “ex-wife” at this point. Her feelings were out in the open, and she no longer wanted to hide them.

Wilson was the only person who couldn’t tell Yvonne’s true intentions.

Yvonne’s face turned pale at Daphne’s words. She gazed at Wilson with grievance in her eyes. “Mr. Farrell…”

Wilson immediately frowned. “Do you always have to be so sharp-tongued, Daphne?”

It was too ridiculous for him to say that. Wasn’t he the one who turned her into this?

On their wedding anniversary, Wilson left Daphne just to attend a wrap party with Yvonne. When Daphne was injured while filming, she wanted Wilson to visit her, but all he did was back Yvonne up against the director.

There was also a time when a few stalker fans kidnapped Daphne, but Wilson was enjoying his holiday with Yvonne in Marindale.

Thus, when all their love and trust were gone, they became cruel to each other.

Daphne couldn’t bear seeing the awful couple acting like they were in a TV show right in front of her. She turned around and left. “Think whatever you want!”

She felt like Wilson was gazing at her intensely as she left, but she wasn’t sure if she was feeling things. Filled with doubt, she turned back, only to see him wrap his arms around Yvonne and comforting her gently.

The scene was a bit too much for her.

Despite the fact that she was reborn, she still couldn’t accept the fact that Wilson cheated on her. Hence, she turned away and drove to leave.

She wasn’t simply provoking Wilson when she mentioned having an important meeting in the afternoon; she did make plans with someone.

And the person she had an appointment with was Sebastian, the eldest son in the Turner family as well as the person Wilson hated the most.

In Daphne’s previous life, Wilson got her drunk and tossed her onto a bed with Sebastian, leading to an intimate night between them. Sebastian had made love with her all night long, wearing her out completely.

At first, Daphne thought it was the drug that made him act that way. But when Wilson and his people barged in and caught them red-handed, Sebastian insisted that he was the one who forced Daphne into this just to protect her.

The police officers then brought Sebastian away. Turner Group’s share prices plummeted because of the scandal.

For this reason, he was dismissed from the board of directors. His father, Peter Turner, stripped away Sebastian’s inheritance rights due to his disappointment in him.

As for Wilson, he took this opportunity to snatch quite a few projects from Sebastian. In addition to that, he took out the video he had secretly recorded that night to pressure Daphne into divorcing.

Wilson had set up the camera in the hotel room beforehand just to record the proof of Daphne “cheating” on him.

In the video, Daphne and Sebastian were tangled in the sheets all night. There was no way she could refute it.

Then, Wilson instructed Yvonne to provide Daphne with two options. The first was that Daphne should agree to the divorce and admit that Sebastian had forced her into non-consensual sex, which would have him sent to prison. The second option was for Daphne to agree to the divorce and admit that she cheated on Wilson, then leave the marriage with nothing.

If she refused to pick one of those two options, Wilson would make the video of the two of them rolling in bed public, completely ruining their reputations.

Daphne was a famous celebrity. A scandal like this would ruin her whole career.

In the end, Daphne rejected both options.

She was the victim, so she couldn’t inflict harm on another victim. Still, she didn’t want to give Wilson what he wanted.

Hence, she committed suicide, leaving a note to prove Sebastian’s innocence and revealing Wilson’s schemes to the public. After all, people only believed the words of the dead.

She had no idea if Sebastian successfully turned the situation around after she died. She only knew that she had the chance to prevent all that from happening in this life and leave the man who had ruined her whole life.

In the most expensive cruise ship restaurant in Serrington, Sebastian, who was wearing a custom-made suit, comfortably lounged in his seat. The ocean breeze caressed his delicate face, ruffling his carefully styled hair.

He was born with a pair of enchanting eyes. Any woman who looked into his eyes would feel as though she was the only one deeply loved by him.

He seemed like a loving person. However, in reality, he was a cold-hearted man. Besides, he had numerous rumored girlfriends but had never officially dated anyone.

The moment Daphne appeared, Sebastian put on his signature smirk. “Are you not worried that Mr. Farrell will be upset after he knows you’ve asked me out, Mrs. Farrell?”

Daphne rolled her eyes.

What was he playing at? The rumors about Wilson and Yvonne were all over the place. Sebastian must have heard of them too.

He was obviously trying to irritate her.

“You don’t have to be so sarcastic. We’re already divorced.”

Sebastian spat out the wine he had just drank. “Pardon?”

Daphne placed her bag on the seat across from Sebastian naturally. Then, she sat down. “We went to the courthouse this morning. After the cooling-off period, we’ll receive our divorce certificate.”

Sebastian took a few seconds to understand what she meant. Then, he furrowed his brows. “Why did you want to see me, then?”

Daphne didn’t reply to that. Lowering her head, she rummaged through her bag and took out a pair of rings, placing them in front of Sebastian. “I’ve taken away half of Wilson’s assets. Would you like to marry me?”
