Chapter 68
The woman froze briefly before quickly repeating, “Make it two servings.”
Her gaze swept over the passenger seat, but she saw no one. When she opened the rear dont, her expression faltered instantly.
After all, sitting in the back seat implied that the driver was being treated as a confleur. She must have thought no one would dare treat Leonardo that way.
“MEG
Gibson, this dog might need all kinds of paperwork to go inside,” she said besitantly.
Leonardo replied sharply, “Get someone to look after it. It’s not going in ”
Having said that, he grabbed my arm and strode toward the small building.
1 yanked my hand free and demanded, “What are you doing?
“Let’s have breakfast first. After that, I’ll pay you a thousand dollars an hour.”
He then pulled out his phone, adding, “Your phone should have notifications, right? Don’t tell me you’ve got the accessibility mode turned off.”
Almost once, my phone chimed with a notification. I had just received 2,000 dollars. He was seriously out of his mind!
Before I could say a word, Leonardo spoke again. “I know you’ve only got one class this attemoon. But whether you go or not doesn’t matter. You’re still on a leave of absence, after all.”
Histone carried an unspoken threat. With his cousin as the university’s vice principal, he had the leverage to enforce whatever he wanted.
With the money already in my account and my eyesight perfectly fine, I had no valid reason to refuse him.
The building tumed out to be a high–end boutique with a high level of privacy.
Leonardo led me inside, and the interior oozed sophistication. He then guided me to a spacious lounge area, with both open seating and private sections. Right then, a staff member brought over two servings of breakfast, placing them on a table in a secluded comer.
Leonardo helped me to my seat and asked, “Breakfast includes a small steak Can you cut it yourself?”
1 shook my head in response. The idea of steak for breakfast caught me off guard. Nevertheless, it looked perfectly tender–probably medium rare..
Without another word, Leonardo sat across from me and began cutting his steak. But to my surprise, he swapped our plates when he was done. Now, the neatly sliced steak was in front of me.
I couldn’t believe it. He had actually cut the steak for me.
The staff member nearby couldn’t hide her admiration. She cast him a look of respect and envy before walking away
That was when it hit me. People like Leonardo always wore masks in public, hiding behind carefully curated facades. Once we were alone, his roue turned cold. “Does Samuel take care of you like this?”
He would never order steak for me. He gets me spaghetti because it’s easier for me to eat,” I answered truthfully. Samuel would p peel starimp and cut steak for Yvette, but he had never done that for me. Not that I needed him to. Leonardo snickered I couldn’t tell what annused him, yet the disdainin his eyes was unmistakable.
When it was just the two of us, his true nature surfaced.
1 ignored him and grabbed a wet wipe to clean my hands before feeling my way around the plate. I speated some bluebenes and mangoes with my fork, eating them one by one.
Eventually, I found the toast, picked it up, and took a bite. It was crisp on the outside,
de, and soft on the insic
I quickly frothed the toast, then reached for the cup of milk and drank half of it
“Aren’t you poing to eat the strak? Leonardo asked.
It wasect that I didn’t want to. I just couldn’t bring myself to eat the one he had cut for me.
can’t see. Besides, I’m full,” I answried as i wiped my hand with a napkin again.
Suddenly, Leonardo rose to his feet, sperated a piece of steak with my fork, and brought it to my lips,
inside, with a rich battery and milky flavor. I hadn’t expected
Trould feel his anger simmering beneath. He despedane, yet be about the steak for me. Hence, my refusal must have been a blow to his pride.
This wain’t about anything else. It was Leonardo’s liuuatequelly coming through
At that moment, a low, furious voice broke through the tension.
“What are you two dulng?“
