Chapter 49
Of course, I could not “see” Samuel or Leonardo. I could only hear Yvette’s voice. I asked hesitantly.
“Is that you, Yvette?”
Yvette quickly rushed over to hold my arm. “It’s me Jules! Samuel said yesterday that there’s nothing between you two, that he just pities you think he’s lying–he obviously cares about you.
But you have a boyfriend now?”
I gave a small laugh at her words, which made it sound like I was the one who had wronged Samuel. Before I could respond, Samuel stomped on the bouquet of flowers lying on the ground, his expression thunderous
“Disgusting trash!” he muttered, though it was unclear if he meant me, Quinton, or the flowers.
Leonardo chimed in. “That’s Quinton from the Wallace family–a spoiled brat who coasts on his
brother’s success.”
I raised an eyebrow. “And tell me, is there any spoiled brat out there who doesn’t rely on their
family or relatives?”
Leonardo lived off his parents, and Samuel depended on his uncle, so neither of them had much
room to talk. However, my comment seemed to tick Samuel off.
He flew into a rage and shouted, “You’re defending that piece of garbage?”
He was so loud that even Yvette flinched. She chimed in, “Samuel, why are you yelling at Jules like this? If you really like her, then act like Mr. Wallace–pursue her properly!”
Samuel scoffed “Like her? Even if she were to strip right in front of me, I wouldn’t look at her
twice.”
He was not done, though. He added, “And it’s not like Jules hasn’t done something like that before.”
The comment caught the attention of nearby students, who started glancing in our direction. Even Leonardo raised an eyebrow, giving me a once–over
I knew what Samuel was referring to. Once, while I was changing clothes in my room, I didn’t realize he was there. I had only taken off a few garments when I sensed someone’s presence, which made me stop immediately.
Samuel spoke up at that moment, startling me, and that was how I found out he was in the room. But now, he had twisted the story to make it sound like I deliberately undressed in front of him Anger flared in me as I grabbed my white cane and hurled it in his direction. Of course, it did not hit him, but it made my point clear. I snapped, “Samuel, you should get your head checked! You’re insane!”

Then, I pulled my arm free from Yvette’s grip and turned toward the university gate. I” accidentally” bumped into a male student and grabbed his sleeve.
“Hey, can you help me get back to campus? I’m blind,” I said bluntly, ignoring the heat that
flushed his face.
But before he could answer, Samuel shoved him aside. “Move!”
His face was a storm of fury, his anger practically radiating off him. Yvette hurried to grab his arm, trying to calm him down.
She said, “Samuel, don’t be mad. Jules didn’t mean it, and honestly, you were way out of line. There are too many people around. Stop being so harsh!”
True to form, Yvette had a way of soothing Samuel like no one else. He swallowed his anger and let it go, though his expression was still dark. I could not help but mock their “true love“.
“Leonardo, why don’t you take Jules back to campus first? We can talk about the charity event later,” Yvette suggested.
Leonardo stepped over to me without a word, his hand firmly gripping my wrist as he guided me forward. However, I said flatly, “Just give me my came.”
Leonardo did not even turn around. “Samuel kicked it into the middle of the road. If you want it, go fetch it yourself.”
I frowned, realizing I had not noticed that because I had already turned my back on them. As we walked past a parked car, I caught a glimpse of Samuel in the rearview mirror.
His gaze was locked on Leonardo and me, burning with icy anger and something else I could not quite decipher. But then I realized his eyes were not focused on me–they were slightly higher, fixed on Leonardo.
I wondered if Samuel was angry at Leonardo now. Nonetheless, I decided not to dwell on it. Leonardo was sharp, and I did not want him to notice anything amiss.
