Chapter 47
I stared at my phone, quietly waiting for Leonardo to finish listening to my voice messages. I had not blocked or deleted him just yet. He was probably about to tell me what had happened between.
Yvette and Samuel.
Soon enough, a video call from Leonardo came through. I hit the accept button but stayed silent. Leonardo seemed to still be in the same private room, sitting on a couch with a small, clear glass
in his hand. There was a bit of liquor at the bottom,
He downed the rest of the drink before speaking coldly, “Are you at a hotel?”
I was surprised he could tell I was in a hotel just from the limited background.
“Oh! Hey, Leo. What’s got you in a bad mood? I can even hear the sound of the glass hitting the
table,” I said, teasing lightly.
Leonardo’s expression grew colder. “A pitiful, twisted coward, huh?” he muttered, almost like he
was scolding himself.
I stayed quiet as he poured himself another glass. Then, he suddenly said, “Yvie has always been so obedient. When Samuel’s fight got to his family, ve cried and asked him why he had to get into trouble. But no one told her that Samuel fought tonight because of you. Do you know how Samuel explained it to her?”
I played along, asking, “Oh? What did he say?”
Leonardo replied, “He told her that his dog almost got messed with by another dog, so he had to step in. Yvie was still upset. She grabbed a bottle of wine, took a swig, and immediately got dizzy.
“She cried, drunk, and hugged Samuel, begging him not to leave her. Samuel promised her he never will–ever. He said he’ll never hurt her for anyone else in this lifetime.”
Leonardo’s voice turned sharper. “Even when I told Samuel that you didn’t return to the campus tonight and stayed out, he didn’t react. He just clung to Yvie, anxious as hell, and left with her.”
I rubbed my temples, patiently listening until Leonardo finished. With a faint smile, I responded, ” Samuel’s always been good to Yvie. Don’t worry, Leo. I’m sure Samuel will never do anything inappropriate to her.”
When I finished speaking, I noticed Leonardo’s eyes lock onto mine through the screen, his gaze cutting like a blade. He said matter–of–factly, “You really don’t like Samuel, do you?”
I was caught off guard. I was puzzled as to why he was suddenly turning the conversation toward me. After all, his focus should be on Yvette.
I simply answered, “Leo, if there’s nothing else, you should head home and rest. Good night.”

Without waiting for his reply, I ended the call. After plugging my phone into the hotel’s charger, I lay down on the bed, letting my thoughts wander to everyone involved.
Yvette was clearly shaken tonight after seeing me in Gideon’s car, but it was unclear whether anything would happen between Samuel and Yvette tonight.
After all, Yvette was Samuel’s precious treasure, and Samuel would not dare push any boundaries. That was probably why Leonardo allowed Samuel to leave with her,
Even so, I could tell this whole situation was still weighing heavily on Leonardo’s mind. I could tell that none of the three would sleep well tonight.
Unlike them, I fell into an unexpectedly peaceful sleep after shutting off my phone. The next morning, a knock on the door woke me.
I powered my phone back on and realized it was already 9:00 am. It was the most restful sleep I had since my rebirth, and strangely, it was in Gideon’s hotel.
I opened the door to find a hotel staff member with a breakfast cart. He said politely, “Good morning, ma’am. Here’s your breakfast.”
I nodded and thanked the server as he pushed the cart inside. Then, he explained, “Today’s breakfast includes a medium–rare steak sandwich and a glass of milk.”
I noticed that there was also half an avocado and a small bowl of cherries on the side. Before stepping out, the server added, “Enjoy your meal.”
“Thank you,” I replied as I saw him to the door. Of course, I also knew that this breakfast was far too fancy for the basic meal included in my room package.
