Chapter 43
I cleared my throat softly, drawing the attention of the people around me.
Yvette’s gaze flickered slightly when she saw me, especially as her eyes lingered on my dress.
Juliet, it’s getting late. Let Leonardo take you home.”
I had intentionally drawn Yvette’s attention. In my previous life, Yvette had done something
similar, ensuring I never had the chance to meet Gideon
I also knew that Yvette wasn’t only wary of me, she was equally cautious of any attractive friends
around her. She never let them get close to Gideon
Yvette’s possessiveness toward Gideon was glaringly obvious, yet the men around her failed to
notice it
Leonardo spoke up, “Alright”
Since the suggestion came from Yvette, who was so “kind and thoughtful“, Leonardo didn’t refuse.
Even Samuel merely furrowed his brows slightly but didn’t say anything.

The subway is still running. I can get back on my own. There’s no need for anyone to take me
back”
Leonardo shot me a glance. Though he didn’t seem particularly willing to take me home earlier,
my refusal now caused his expression to turn colder. Even if I acted more agreeable toward
Leonardo, it wouldn’t soften his attitude toward me.
Samuel, however, seemed pleased. He instructed the manager to retrieve my white cane and
handed it to me. I’ll have the security guard escort you out.”
“Alright.”
This time, I didn’t refuse Samuel because I still needed to retrieve my guide dog from him, though
that clearly wasn’t going to happen tonight.
“Don’t forget to bring my guide dog to me tomorrow, I said.
Yvette hurried over, clearly impatient to get rid of me. “Samuel, since you promised Juliet, you
should send her guide dog over as soon as possible She really needs it because she can’t see.
I knew Yvette was eager to get me out of the way, and since she had spoken, Samuel wouldn’t
refuse
Samuel hesitated for a moment before finally saying, Tll deliver it to you tomorrow.”
Tapping my cane, I turned and walked toward the exit.
A security guard followed alongside me, guiding the way. Once outside the club, I stopped and
turned toward him. “This is far enough. Thank you!
“To get to the subway station, follow the tactile paving to your left and walk straight for about half
a mile. You’ll reach the entrance.”
“Thank you,” I said, expressing my gratitude before using my cane to find the tactile paving. Once I located it, I followed the path toward the subway station.
Along the way, I discreetly took out my phone and glanced behind me. I noticed the security guard wasn’t following me.
After tapping along the path for a while, I put the cane back into my backpack. In a way, Yvette’s eagerness to send me off worked in my favor.
If Gideon had seen me with Yvette and the others at the club, he would have immediately figured out my intentions.
I hadn’t walked far when I heard the sound of a car honking at me. A vehicle slowed down and came to a stop in front of me.
Looking closer, I recognized it as Gideon’s car. The window then rolled down, revealing Gideon’s handsome, composed face.
“Good evening, Mr. Jackman!” I greeted him in surprise.
It wasn’t an act–I was genuinely startled. After all, he was in a moving car but had immediately spotted me, even stopping to check. I knew he was on his way to meet Samuel.
“It’s late. Where are you heading?” he asked.
“I’m heading back to campus,” I replied.
