Chapter 26
Samuel loved using vulgar words to provoke me. In my previous life, those words would leave my mind buzzing and my head spinning with dizziness. But now, hearing them only made me find
him laughable
He worked so hard to win over Yvette, only to end up with unrequited love. Yvette liked Gideon something Samuel never found out even in my previous life. Unable to resolve Yvette’s hot–and- cold attitude toward him, he sought validation from me, venting his nameless rage on me instead.
“You care so much about me staying out all night, Samuel. Could it be that you’re in love with me?”
He wasn’t the only one who could be disgusting–I could be too
Samuel froze for a moment, then smirked mockingly. His expression said it all. Someone like me?
How absurd
“People shouldn’t desire what they can’t have. Haven’t I been good enough to you? I’ve never been
this patient with any of my girlfriends.”
He had said this to me in my previous life too.
Back then, my focus had been on the latter part of his statement. I thought I was special to
Samuel. That one sentence kept me awake all night
But now, I understood. The real message he wanted to convey was in the first part–people
shouldn’t desire what they couldn’t have. His so–called affection was just something I longed for
but could never attain.
“So, Juliet, come back with me. I’ll take care of you I’ll give you money every month. Isn’t that
better than struggling through university?”
Samuel was adept at offering a fragile lifeline at the very last moment–right when I was standing
at the edge of a cliff. It was never strong, though. In my previous life, I was overwhelmed by
shame and grabbed onto it anyway. But it was too fragile and weak–so weak that it ultimately led
to my demise.
“If you’re so patient with me, even more than with your exes, then will you cut ties with Yvette?
After all, no girlfriend would want her boyfriend to have a close female friend. If you promise me
that, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll go back with you”
As expected, his expression changed instantly. It darkened as if the mere thought of distancing himself from Yvette was unbearable. His gaze turned sharp like he wanted to flay me alive.
In my previous life, I couldn’t see and had no idea how deep his feelings for Yvette ran, But this
time, I planned to help him confront the truth
Because only when he discovered Yvette’s love for Gideon would his pain deepen

Samuel quickly masked his expression. “So, all this time, you’ve been sulking because you’re
jealous?”
I frowned slightly, caught off guard by the sudden shift in his tone.
He glanced at me, then stepped forward and grabbed my chin. “Stop comparing yourself to Yvie. You have your own merits.”
Though he was still dismissing the idea that I could compare to Yvette, his tone was softer than before.
He seemed to relish my supposed jealousy. There was a faint hint of joy in his eyes–something I couldn’t quite decipher.
But I suspected that my jealousy and affection for him was just a bonus to him. He was still devoted to Yvette. That faint trace of happiness was tied to her, not me.
I nodded. “That’s right. I’m jealous, Samuel. Think it over carefully. If you can truly promise me this, I’ll give you my whole heart.”
Of course, that was impossible.
Samuel would never do it. But he would pretend to
Pretending was useless, though. I was only playing along to stabilize the situation, to keep him/ from sabotaging my efforts to make a good impression on Gideon.
For revenge, I would stop at nothing.
As for Gideon, I was determined to win him over.
