Chapter 25
“Mr. Yates, just drop me off at the subway station ahead. Thank you for today, and also….
I turned to Gideon. “Thank you for taking me to the burn specialist last time. If it’s alright, could
we exchange contact information? I’ll reimburse you for the dry cleaning after I get paid.”
Liam raised an eyebrow. “Dry cleaning fee?”
Gideon cast him a glance but didn’t respond. Instead, he pulled out his phone. “It’s not much. You don’t need to worry about it ”
I held up my phone. “In that case, I’ll send it to you through Mr. Yates.”
Just as I finished speaking, Gideon handed me his phone. “But if you insist on not owing me, you can make the payment directly through me.”
His consideration stood in stark contrast to Samuels. Even if Gideon saw me as nothing more than a stranger, his thoughtfulness reflected his impeccable upbringing and respect for others‘ feelings.
We exchanged WhatsApp details. As I scanned his QR code, my hand accidentally brushed against his. He stiffened for a moment before quickly pulling away.
His profile picture was a serene blue, reminiscent of both the sky and the sea. It was hard to tell which
When the car stopped near the subway station, I got out
“Thank you both,” I said.
“If you’re really grateful, don’t refuse my next invitation to play tennis,” Liam said with a grin. You’re such a pleasure to play with. I’ve been looking forward to it for ages.”
Before he could finish, Gideon interrupted, “Drive.”
I froze momentarily, surprised by the slight displeasure in Gideon’s expression and the cold edge
to his tone.
I thanked Liam again and closed the car door. As walked toward the subway entrance, I faintly heard Liam say, “What’s with you…
The rest of his words were lost to me. I didn’t linger near the car any longer and made my way inside
Had I been too eager and offended Gideon somehow?
Still, I was sure that rescuing the damsel in distress just now had been Liam’s idea. The fact that Gideon hadn’t stopped him from giving me a ride was already progress.
When I returned to the university, I saw Samuel waiting by the dormitory.
The last class of the day hadn’t ended yet, so most people weren’t back yet. No one had warned me he was there
With my cane in hand, I ignored him entirely.
But he grabbed my wrist. “Juliet Sutton!”
I pretended to be startled, then frowned. “Let go!”
Samuel sneered, dragging me under a nearby tree despite my struggles. Ignoring my protests, het began pulling at my clothes.
“This is the university–Harborton University I shouted. My wrist was too overworked from the past few days, and I couldn’t shake him off.
“Out all night? Learned some tricks, huh? If I see another man’s marks on you, I’ll kill you!” His face was still filled with anger, his disdainful attitude clear.
Every time I faced Samuel, it felt like being dragged back into hell. Without hesitation, I raised my hand and slapped him.
“And what if there aren’t any marks? Are you going to strip me here and let everyone watch? Is that what you want?”
That was exactly what he wanted–to humiliate me entertain Yvette, and use me to vent her frustrations while toying with me.
Samuel froze momentarily, and then his expression darkened. He shoved me hard against the tre

“Juliet, don’t be greedy. Just because I care a bit about Yvette, you throw a tantrum like this? You left the hospital with some random man and didn’t come back all night. Did you enjoy yourself? Did he satisfy you?”
