Chapter 20
“Call the police. Get me all the surveillance footage, Samuel demanded.
I frowned. I couldn’t let him report it to the police.
I took out my phone, turned it on, and called Samuel
“Where are you? Don’t be scared. I’ll come find you Tell me, where did that man take you? He
didn’t do anything to you, did he?” Samuel’s voice carried a trace of urgency–or maybe it was just my imagination.
“I’m already on the subway heading back to the university.”
After saying that, I hung up.
The next moment, I heard Samuel smashing his phone outside.
Peeking through the crack in the door, I saw Samuel storm out of the hospital, furious. Only then
did I sneak to the second floor through the emergency stairwell and leave the hospital via the
corridor in the main building.
During that time, my phone kept ringing. They were all calls from Samuel.
I got on the subway, but I didn’t go back to the university right away. Instead, I stopped by a
pharmacy to buy some burn ointment before heading to the tennis club.
Hannah was still at work when I arrived. Seeing me in such a mess and carrying a bag of
medication, she was shocked and led me to her office.
“Your wrist looks worse than before.”
“I accidentally scalded it with hot water. Hannah, is it okay if I stay in the club’s locker room
tonight? I don’t have anywhere else to go.”
There was a long couch in the locker room.
Hannah hesitated for a moment. “That’s against the rules. How about you stay at my place, or I’ll book you a hotel room?”
I shook my head. “I don’t want to bother you or your family. I’ll figure something out myself.”
She was wearing a wedding ring, and there was a photo of her family of three on the desk. Staying at her house would be incredibly inconvenient.
Hannah looked into my eyes for a few seconds, the sighed. “I don’t know what you’re going through, but I have a daughter too. Fine. There’s a VIP lounge at the club. It has everything you’ll
need. You can stay there tonight.”

I was genuinely grateful. “Thank you, Hannnah!”
She led me to the VIP lounge.
The tennis club closes at 10:30 pm. No one has booked this lounge for tonight, so you can rest easy here.”
I thanked her again.
After she left, I took a shower, wrapped myself in a bathrobe, and sat on the bed to apply the burn ointment. The VIP lounge was well–equipped, just as Hannah had said. Still, I used the facilities and items sparingly to avoid causing her any unnecessary trouble.
My phone kept buzzing with voice messages from Samuel.
“You’re not in the dormitory. So, you’ve learned to lie to me now?
“Where else could you be? Just because I left you for Yvette, you’re trying to provoke me like this? There’s no need to compare yourself to Yvette. You and she are completely different. At the very least, she wouldn’t be this immature!
Juliet, you’re mine. Don’t even think about climbing into another man’s bed. No one else will treat a blind woman as well as I do! Only I’d put up with you for this long and unconditionally!
“Answer the phone! Right now!”
I pulled the blanket tighter around myself and closed my eyes.
In the haze of half–sleep, I suddenly heard the sound of the door unlocking with a card. A soft chime followed. I jolted awake while clutching the blanket tightly.
Then, I heard Liam’s voice.
“Gid, have a seat. I’ll take a quick shower, and then we can hit the

a drink perfect time. The nightlife is just getting started. You really killed me today, though. Made me work up a sweat!
“But Gid, it’s rare for you to come play tennis so late, let alone twice in one day What’s going on? You don’t even look upset.”
At this moment, I was lying under the thin blanket with my head covered. Neither of them noticed me.
“Stop talking nonsense.” Gideon’s voice came through the blanket, sounding as if it was close to my ears. He seemed to have sat down on the bed and was very close to me.
