Gideon carried me upstairs. Though the emergency department was on the first floor, he headed to the inpatient department instead
I knew why he didn’t send me to the emergency department immediately, a few ambulances
arrived downstairs earlier as there had been an accident.
So, Gideon carried me to the inpatient department for burns
I chose to scald myself with hot water because I knew he had another good friend, Adam Fangler,
who was a burn specialist
However, I didn’t expect to meet Gideon directly.
“Who is this, Gid?”
Adam was scared senseless. After all, Gideon had carried me over.
“I accidentally caused her to hurt herself. She seems to have low blood sugar and is shaking
violently,” Gideon told him.
Placing me on the chair that was facing Adam, Gideon said, “I’m sorry for what happened earlier
I sensed him staring at the top of my head inquisitively. This was my first time talking to him.
Since I was in so much pain that I had broken into a cold sweat and couldn’t speak, I shook my
head wordlessly.
Adam hurriedly diagnosed my burns, then looked at Gideon before glancing at
me
again.
“The burns aren’t serious. You washed her hand with cold water, right? Don’t worry, miss. I’ll give
you some cream to stop the pain and prevent scars Apply it regularly. If there’s any scarring, you
can come back to this hospital later on.”
After that, Adam passed me a cup of honey water.
I took it with trembling hands.
Though I didn’t have low blood sugar, I drank it.
“Gid, she has been scalded What about you? Are you hurt?” Adam stared at Gideon worriedly
before falling silent
“I’m fine,” Gideon replied.
I didn’t want to injure anyone, so I let the hot water splash on myself instead.
Gideon’s clothes were wet not because of the hot water but because he ran cold water over my
hand earlier

After memorizing Adam’s appearance, I stood up while swaying slightly. “I feel better now. I need
to go to the washroom and clean up my clothes.
Adam smiled. “Once you leave my office, turn left and walk straight until you see the pantry.
That’s where the washroom is.”
“Thank you.” Standing up, I walked out of the room,
Yet instead of heading to the washroom, I stood at the door and listened to their conversation.
“What happened, Gid? Why did you carry her over?
I couldn’t hear Gideon’s reply.
Adam said again, “Be careful. She might be trying to get with you. But she’s the prettiest lady I’ve seen around you so far.”
I had already guessed what Adam would say. After all, it was normal for him to suspect me.
However, I truly hadn’t expected to bump into Gideon earlier. Now that I had, Gideon might have his suspicions. After all, he had met me at the tennis club before.
Pausing briefly, I walked away and headed to the washroom.
Then, I got into the elevator and headed to the second level. After walking out, I entered the emergency stairwell.
Since the escape door to the first level wasn’t shut securely and it was near the nurse’s station, I could hear Samuel’s angry voice clearly.
“What do you mean someone carried her away? Do you know what might happen if a man carries a blind and pretty lady away? Will you be able to deal with the consequences?”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Jackman. I don’t know who that man is. We just know that he carried her to the emergency department, but we couldn’t find her after we went there!”
