Chapter 16
Was it because I didn’t behave like Samuel expected me to? Was it also because I had stopped
relying on him?
Or was he angry because I exposed his true feelings for me to Yvette without expressing any
disappointment?
Yvette laughed awkwardly. “Don’t belittle yourself. You’re so beautiful, so it’s normal for other
men to like you
I laughed coldly
Since I treated Samuel coldly, I didn’t behave nicely to Yvette either.
Samuel’s expression turned darker, and he looked like he wanted to rip me to pieces.
“Jules, your parents are buried here, right? I should pay my respects.”
“There’s no need. You don’t have to lower your status and do that. Let’s go.” While pulling Yvette
up, Samuel looked back at me. He behaved like a childish man. He probably wanted to se
unhappiness on my face.
Yet I just walked back and picked up my cane. I knew that Samuel wouldn’t let Yvette pay
respects to my parents.
the
He thought that Yvette didn’t remember much from the time she was adopted. She only recalled that her adoptive sister pushed her onto the road and that she was abused by the first family who
took her in.
Since Samuel felt bad for Yvette and cherished her deeply, he wouldn’t let her remember her
painful past.
He helped Yvette into the car.
I continued walking with my cane and headed to the entrance of the graveyard. Yet before I could
do that, Samuel dragged me back.
“What did you mean just now? Why did you say that I didn’t like you and that I pitied you? How
could you say that?”
I didn’t expect Samuel to say that. Was he angry just because of that?
“I often hear you say that, Mr. Jackman. So, I clarified the rumors. Why would you care about what
I said? I thought you’d thank me for it!”
He grabbed my wrist tightly. Thankfully, he was holding my left wrist, so it didn’t really hurt.
Inhaling deeply, he suddenly leaned in. “That’s great. You have to know that I’m a stubborn
person. The more you act like you’re all aloof and pure, the more I want to kill you.”
He moved closer to me. “I want to torture you in bed! I wonder if you’ll continue behaving like this
when you’re on the verge of a breakdown?”
Goosebumps appeared on my skin. In my previous life, I did whatever he asked, but I was still
tricked by him.
In this life, I kept antagonizing him, but he thought I was playing hard to get and wanted to be rebellious. As expected, he was a madman. I shouldn’t treat him like a normal person.
“Let go of me. Yvette is watching us from inside the car.”
Hearing that, Samuel controlled himself. However, he still didn’t let go of me.
“You should stop fighting with me. I bought a house for you, but you haven’t gone to see it yet. After sending Yvette to the hospital, I’ll bring you there. You’ll like it.”
Suddenly, his tone softened. “I’ve already given you the house. You can renovate it as you please Let’s live together. You can’t continue fighting with me.”
“Samuel, I’ve gone blind, so I can’t see anything. I won’t like whatever you give me. I think staying at the university is better. You should send me back or let me leave. There’s no other option for you to choose. I’ll tell Yvette that you keep touching me and that you want to sleep with me if you force me into your car!”
