Chapter 12
Grasping my shoulders, Xara said, “I’ll slot in a few new tennis club members for you. In the meantime, I’ll deal with Mr. Yates for you. But I can’t keep doing it. You’ll have to check your wrist
at a registered hospital and get the treatment you need. Don’t worry about the bills, our club will
cover the costs for you.”
I nodded gratefully and prepared to walk out of the club. I removed the cold compress that Xara
gave me.
Just then, a tall figure opened the door and entered the tennis club.
I stopped in my tracks.
Although I had never met Gideon in my previous life, I instinctively knew that the man standing
in front of me was him.
He looked like he was in his 30s and was taller than Samuel. His features looked more dazzling
than his nephew’s.
Though Gideon looked similar to Samuel, Samuel looked condescending and playful while Gideon looked calm and mysterious.
As I thought about it, I glanced at him briefly and sidestepped out of the way.
Gideon looked at my wrist, and I emotionlessly placed it behind my back.
Then, he walked past me like a stranger.
Yet I saw that he had pushed open the glass door completely.
He wasn’t easy to get close to and wouldn’t be interested in someone so quickly. However, he had refined manners, so he would definitely help an injured person open the door.
Gideon was different from Samuel in that aspect. So, this was why Yvette loved him so much despite being unable to be with him.
Just when I left the tennis club and prepared to board the subway, my phone rang. Looking at the phone screen, I saw that Benjamin was calling me. However, I ignored him.
It seemed that Benjamin had left the police station
I never expected him to remain in the police station for so long as I only made a report regarding the theft of my belongings. Yet it turned out he had ordered someone to enter my room to take nude photos of me; he didn’t intend to steal anything
After I left the subway station, I realized that Benjamin had called me dozens of times. Though I didn’t want to care about him, he sent me a voice recording.
“Jules, I’m at your parents‘ graves now. If you don’t come here, I don’t know what I might do.”
Gripping my phone tightly, my voice trembled as I hurriedly sent a voice recording to him. Benjamin, don’t touch my parents‘ graves. I’ll head over now.”
I immediately made my way to my parents‘ graves, but it took two hours for me to arrive there.
When I arrived, Benjamin was smoking near my parents‘ graves while Margaret stood beside him.
I got out of the car, closed the door, and controlled my anger. I headed over with my cane, saying, ” Hello, Benjamin.“.
Though Benjamin saw me, he didn’t plan to move away from my parents‘ graves. The two thought that I was blind, so they didn’t hide their evil intentions in front of me.
“Jules, did you call the police on me? Do you know that you won’t be able to get a government job if I’m arrested because I’m legally your guardian? When Margaret looked for you, you said that you’d ignore me. What do you mean by this? Haven’t I treated you well in the past months?”
Benjamin smoked his cigarette again.
I was already an adult. Why would I need a guardian?
My expression turned aloof. “How have you been treating me well? I’ve never met such a shameless man before. Are you avoiding the real reason behind your arrest?”
All at once, Benjamin’s expression turned even gloomier. “They accused me of stealing Mr. Jackman’s belongings. Did you steal his bracelet? Now, he’s blaming me for the theft. The bracelet costs a million dollars. How are you going to pay him back?”
