Chapter 7
“Holy crap! My goddess’s boyfriend proposed to her best friend. I feel sad but also a little happy–what’s wrong with me? It’s unethical, but screw ethics, I want my goddess. Today’s progress: she held my hand!”
“My goddess is coming to my place! I’m so excited! Finally, I can use the jasmine–scented
qndle I picked out for her. I just know it’s perfect for her!”
“We’re living together! She praised my cooking! I have to keep working on my skills.”
“Her ex is desperately trying to win her back. That jerk–I’ve waited too long for this chance, and I’m not letting him ruin it.”
I read each line aloud to Franklin, who grew redder by the second. By the end, he had a defiant look, unbothered by my reaction.
“Yes, I’ve been planning this all along! You don’t have to accept me, but you can’t stop me from chasing you.”
I decided to test him.
“How about a kiss?”
His eyes widened, but he answered without hesitation.
“Yes.”
At first, Franklin tried to hold back, but eventually, he took control, leaning in deeper. With
reddened eyes, he looked at me and asked softly,
“Sophie, will you be my girlfriend?”
Instead of answering, I leaned up and bit him hard.
The next morning, he posted a new update and tagged Jacob:
“She’s mine.”

Shattered Promises
The picture showed our fingers extorined, and the comments section exploded
“Whoa! Congrats, bro, you finally won over the goddess
“Did you tag her ex? I can just imagine his face right now”
“Please, please do a livestream proposal I need to see this
“Delete it, man–I just went through a breakup and can’t handle this.”
I dragged my sore body to the office for my final day to wrap up my tasks. As I stepped in, the lively office instantly fell silent Colleagues stared at me with disdain, disgust, and a hint of judgment. Confused, I scanned the room until I saw Melody at her desk, her eyes red and swollen from crying
A few coworkers stood up, blocking my path with righteous indignation.
“Sophie, how can you still show your face here? You stole your best friend’s fiancé. Disgusting!
“Who ever heard of a mistress acting so entitled? Melody’s fiancé wants to leave her now–are you satisfied?”
I chuckled.
“Is that what Melody told you?”
Melody stood up, striding over to me and slapped me without warning.
“Sophie, I treated you as my best friend. Why did you steal my fiancé?”
I raised my hand to slap her back when she suddenly thrust out her belly, tears streaming down as she held up her phone for all to see.
“I’m pregnant, Sophie. Please, don’t take Jacob away. You wouldn’t want this child to be born fatherless, would you?”
So, she was trying to manipulate the situation with a live, public “trial“? Her live viewer count was skyrocketing, and the comments were filled with curses aimed at me.

Alright, if that’s how she wanted to play it, I’d play along.

Right in front of Melody, I unblocked Jacob and called him, putting the call on speaker. Within seconds, he picked up, eager.
“Sophie! You’re finally going to forgive me, aren’t you?”
I answered, feigning a defeated tone.
Jacob, didn’t you say you wouldn’t touch Melody? How is she pregnant?”
He panicked, rushing to explain.
“Sophie, I was drunk, out of it, and it just happened… But don’t worry, I don’t want that baby. Melody and I ended things ages ago. Only you are worthy of having my child.”
Ha! Men–don’t believe a single word they say.
Melody’s expression darkened as she clenched her teeth, clearly wishing to slap me but restrained by her pitiful persona. All she could do was cry harder for her live audience. The comments against me grew nastier, and there were even people nearby who planned to show up and “support” Melody.
Keeping my cool, I said to Jacob,
“I might consider forgiving you, but you’ll need to come to the office and clarify everything I won’t let myself be labeled a homewrecker.”
Jacob’s excitement was palpable.
“Sophie, wait for me. This time, I’ll make you happy for sure.”
