Chapter 2
Staring into my panicked eyes, the doctor closed his eyes and solemnly informed me, “It’s not salvageable. You’re barely three months pregnant, and the impact to your abdomen. caused an immediate miscarriage.”
“If you don’t undergo surgery immediately, your life will be in danger.”
Since I was alone, I had to sign the consent form myself. My hands trembled as I scrawled my name on the surgery sheet.

Lying half–awake on the hospital bed, excruciating pain engulfed me.
Yet, the ache in my heart surpassed the physical pain.
Whispers from the next bed reached my ears.
“She’s pathetic, no one came to be with her after the accident.”

Undeterred, I called him again, and this time, he answered.
“Honey, I…”
Before I could finish my word, my husband anxiously interrupted, “Winne, I’m not coming home tonight. I have an urgent work matter.”
