Chapter 77
Josie trembled as she quickly agreed.
to approach Maybelle. They had always wanted to become the sole supplier for the Harper family.
From the very beginning, it was her parents‘ idea to appro It’s their only hope to double their probils
Sadly, even though the kind–hearted Maybelle did become close to Josie and treated her with utmost sincerity, at the end of the day, she’s still adopted and had no influence whatsover on the Harper family business.
But now, their real daughter had returned. That changed everything Maybelle had no use to her now. For the sake of her family, Josie had realised that the needed to butter up the real Harper daughter no matter what, and try to get on good terms with the them as soon as possible.
Much to the excitement of the whole school, Rhea finally made her grand entrance,
She arrived in her gorgeous white dress. Her hair long and loose.
It was the first time Rhea had made a scene. She would never imagined herself being the center of attention. With such a rough childhood, the was used to being the new kid everywhere, but never had she been welcomed by the entire school before. Even the principal’s out greeting her, as if she were royality.
Rhea was flattered, but she soon accepted at. Matthew had probably spent god knows how much money to get her into the best class at Austin School. If she wanted to make a scene, so be it. With that thought, she entered the classroom with her head held high, like a proud little princess. The homeroom teacher introduced her to the class. Rhea just stood there in her little white dress by the podium, looking delicate and innocent. She smiled to her peers as she introduced herself shyly. “Hey guys, I’m Rhea Harper, Glad to be here and hope we can all get along”
There were
tre still several seats empty. The homeroom teacher gently asked her where she would like to sit
Quite a few guys seemed eager to be her new deskmate
To be honest, Rhea wasn’t particularly stunning, per se, but still fairly attractive: Plus, the Harper name did add a layer of rose–colored glasses

What kind of family would donate dozens of millions merely to send their daughter to study here! If someone could tie the knot with a girl of that much wealth, they probably never had to work a single day in their life ever again.
Rhea looked around, pretending she didn’t know what she was looking for, before fixing her gaze on Maybelle.
She asked umidly. “Ms, can I sit next to her?”
Rhea hadn’t at all forgotten the reason she’s here. Dale and Beatrice had told her specifically that she had to get Maybelle home as soon as possible. Everyone seemed a little confused by her request. It was quite obvious that the seat next to Maybelle had already been taken.
Although unoccupied because Josie was still at the Dean’s office for her punishment), some backpack and textbooks were neatly placed on the desk. The homeroom teacher besatated, “Rhea, that seat is not really available,”
Rhea lowered her head and voice immediately. She was really good at playing the victim after all. “Sorry. Ms. But I can’t see very well, and that seat seems great for my needs. I have to see clearly to study well
She couldn’t just simply tell everyone about her relationship with Maybelle. Maybelle might hate that. She needed to carefully approach her, step by step.
Although the principal had repeatedly requested that Rhea should be granted whatever she wanted, it was still a bit bizzare. “Our seating arrangement changes every week. It’s not permanent… How about you take the other seat in the same row!” The homeroom teacher suggested.
“Ms, she can sit here. It’s fine.” Maybelle voiced out suddenly
thea was surprised. But before she could react, Maybelle had already picked up her bag. “I can see quite well. I’ll sit in the back.” Maybelle said so as she walked straight to the back seats.
The homeroom teacher seemed immediately
ly relieved. “That’s great. Rhea, you can stay there then
Rhea, on the other hand, wasn’t so pleased. She eventually sat down at Maybelle’s seat without saying a thing.

Chapter 77
Josie had just come back from the Dean’s officere feeling dejected, only to find out now that, somehow, she was sitting next to none other than Rhea Harper herself! It’s such a great opportunity that it’s almost too good to be true. What a godsend.
She was so eager that she couldn’t wait to say hi. She needed to leave a good impression.
“Hey, you’re new, right! I’m Josie. Great to have you here.”
Rhea glanced at her indifferently.
Normally, Rhea wouldn’t mind showing some niceties. You know, flex some of her sweet and caring side. But now was really not a good time. If not for this Josie, she would have been talking to Maybelle right now
Not getting the reaction she wished for. Josie awkwardly looked away.
“Maybe it’s not that bad. Maybe it’s just the way rich girls act. She thought so as she bit down her lip. It would be alright. After all, Rhea would sit right next to her from now on. The right time would come.
It was not a secret that Maybelle Barrett was formally known as Maybelle Harper. And the Harper name was not that common in the city. Now with Rhea’s initial intention to be close with Maybelle, their relationship naturally sparked quite some speculations among Austin School.
“Is it the same Harper? Could they be related?”
“Nah, Maybelle’s kind of broke, isn’t she? How could she be related to that trust fund baby?”
“Besides, those two don’t look alike at all;”
“She literally just changed her name, and another Harper came. Is there some kind of Law of Conservation of Harpers governing our class?” “That’s funny. Don’t be ridiculous, though. It should just be a coincidence.”
Sitting quietly in the back, Maybelle ignored all the chatter. She just wanted to concentrate so she could study for her Physics.
However, in the meantime, both Josie and Rhea kept trying to talk to her. Josie had the aundecity to act all buddy–buddy with her like nothing happened; while Rhea, on the other hand, seemed to merely want to get along with her. Maybelle didn’t even bother looking at neither of them. The two hit a dead end, they could only return to their desks and sulk.
In fact, it was Maybelle who brought Rhea to her class. She knew that even in this second life, something was just destined to happen. Since it’s inevitable, she would rather face it at her own pace, and take control in her own hands.
Like, Maybelle knew that if she pushed Josie just the right amount, she would become desperate and eventually turn to Rhea. And if she wanted to butter Rhea up, she might start to spread the word that Maybelle was only adopted.
