Chapter 73
Eric, physically strong but simple–minded, was completely confused. He clearly didn’t expect this outcomic.
Maybelle’s classmates also jumped in and shared their thoughts.
I can vouch for Mabel. Her desk would often get all sorts of random gifts and love letters. Every time, she’d either throw them out right away or ask Josie to help return the expensive ones to the boys.”
“It wasn’t like she asked: 1 st right behind her, and it was always Josie who volunteered to take the gifts back for her.”
“So all those gifts ended up in Josie’s hands? Dramatic?“
“I never thought Josie was this helpful, but she always ran up and down for Mabel. Turns out she was just lining her pockets?
“That’s despicable! She claimed all the gifts were returned, leaving Mabel to carry the blamel
“So Josie’s the real gold digger, huh!”
“She’s accepting gifts under the guise of her friend–what a shame!“
“n’t that theft?”
At first, the classmates were just observing, but once they saw Maybelle wrongly accused, they stepped up to confirm that she had never accepted any gifts from the boys.
The students were furious with Josie and criticized her character. Even Eric, the unsuspecting fool, wasn’t spared:
“And you, Eric, don’t you think! Mabel is so focused on her studies and never cares about things like brand names. Do you really think she’d let her best friend hand that she wanted those expensive gifts!“
“Yeah, she clearly said the doesn’t want a relationship, yet you guys keep swarming around giving her gifts, Maybelle must be really fed up!” “Even if she kept the gifts, it wasn’t because she asked for them. You delivered them to our class. Even if you didn’t win her over, demanding them back is just too much. Your actions are really low! Fortunately, Maybelle never cared about you.”
“You acted like a show–off, and when you couldn’t win her, you started asking for money back. Ridiculous!
“You believe everything Josie says? Is she your consultant?”
“Get your money from Josse. Stay away from our beauty”
still
As Maybelle saw her classmates stand up for her, she felt a small warmth in her heart, a heart bruised by past experiences, realizing there are sti people who are kind to her.
Eric alone had sent gifts worth thousands, and the dean quickly sensed the gravity of the situation. He walked up to Josie with a serious expression and asked, “Is what they’re saying true? Did you deceive both sides and secretly pocket the gifts from Eric!”
The classmates quickly added, “Dean, it’s not just Eric–she probably took gifts from the other suitors too!”
Jose had accepted the gifts without thinking they’d ever cause trouble. She was speechless when questioned by the dean.
At that moment, she felt like everyone was turning against her, and she broke down in tears, feeling wronged.
“Boo hoo–I didn’t mean to do it! I thought Mabel gave those things to me to dispose of however I wanted. I threw everything away. I didn’t take anything
Eric knew unmediately that she was lying. The thought of how this girl has been playing him makes him so mad that he just wants to give her a punch. With fury, he pointed at her and yelled,
“You’re lying! You came to me and hinted that I should give those gifts to hert Now you’re saying you threw them away? Do you really think I’m that stupid! Swear on your college entrance exain results that if you’re lying, you’ll never get into any school!”
Josie’s face turned pale. For someone about to take the college entrance exam, especially a student from the top class of a prestigious school, this was the most cutting vow she could face
She stammered, too scared to speak, only able to cry, which evidently confirmed that she had indeed pocketed those things,

Chapter 73
In the past, some people might’ve defended her, but as more and more onlookers gathered, several boys stepped forward to call her out.
“What are you crying for! Last time you told me Maybelle wanted a bracelet. Do you have any idea how long I saved up for it! Give me my money
back!”
“And what about the gifts I gave you! Did you steal those too!”
“Give us our money back, or we’ll call the police!”
Josie knew she was in serious trouble. Panicked, she turned to Maybelle for help, pleading. “Mabel, please help me. I don’t know why they misunderstand me like this. I didn’t keep anything. You know my situation, how could I afford to pay them back?”
Maybelle managed to break free from Josie’s hands. With righteous anger, she glared at her, as if just now discovering what she had done. She asked in disbelief. “How can you still play the victim! I trusted you so much, how could you betray me like this? And now you want me to save you? Which Eric was forcing me to return the money earlier, where were you then!”
Maybelle pushed Josie away without mercy, determined to cut all ties with her.
The onlookers completely understood her reaction. Who could stay calm after being betrayed by their best friend?
Maybelle’s voice was cold as ice. “You know exactly how many things you’ve taken from them. Even if you don’t have the money, you still have the items, right? If you really can’t pay, just return the gifts. Maybe they’ll forgive you… Otherwise, considering the amount, they could call the police and have you arrested!”
The classmates around her joined in, urging Josie to give back what she had pocketed.
Josie’s face drained of color. She had already sold everything on a second–hand website at a low price. How could she possibly give them back now?
