Chapter 71
Oscar slightly curled his hips, appearing quite satisfied with the decision.
The principal’s words dropped like a depth charge into already turbulent waters, instantly stirring up a storm of shock and chaos.
If the dean’s earlier threat to expel Maybelle was a mere attempt to apply pressure, the principal’s announcement made Eric’s expulsion official
The surrounding students couldn’t help but gasp. Sure, Eric had a sharp tongue, but this punishment seemed a little over the top!
I seemed the principal was going to any lengths to please the guest
At that moment, no one was more terrified than Eric. He could hardly believe his cars–jou for cursing at a girl a few times, he was really going to be expelled!
The number of expulsions at this school could be counted on one hand, and those expelled were guilty of serious, irreversible mistakes. How could he end up as part of that rare groupt

only three months left until the college entrance exams, if he got expelled now, what school would ever accept him?
“Why? Just for something so trivial, you’re going to expel me? I won’t stand for this!” Eric, no longer able to hold hack, immediately exploded in
His reaction was completely expected. Anyone in his shoes would have had a hard time staying calm, especially Eric, whose fiery temper made his response even more explosive.
The principal snapped at him, “Stop yelling! You should have known this was coming when you started insulting your classmate for 110 reason!” Since Eric was already on the verge of being expelled, he simply went all out and hysterically pointed at Maybelle, shouting. “For no reason” She knows exactly why? She keeps saying she doesn’t like me, yet constantly hints at me to buy her gifts! She takes everything I give her but won’t even spare me a decent look when we meet And from what I know, she’s been secretly encouraging others to give her expensive gifts too. Isn’t she the very definition of a gold–digger? Why shouldn’t I call her out?“,
He wanted to say even harsher things but hesitated due to the presence of the intimidating man, not daring to go too far.
Hearing his accusations, some of the students around them began looking at Maybelle with range expressions After all, Eric wasn’t entirely wrong With his show–off personality, he always bragged to his friends whenever he spent big on gifts for girls.
Combined with some rumors from other classes, many felt there might be some truth to his claims–enticing these boys to buy her expensive things all the time while rejecting their advances. Isn’t she just a gold digger?
With these thoughts, the students gazes toward Maybelle grew increasingly judgmental, as if they had already convicted her of being exactly what Eric described.
“Tik isk, who knew she was that kind of person?”
Just look at those gift bags she’s holding Each one’s probably worth a lot! Het she tricked other guys into buying them too.”
“I was really into her looks, but I didn’t expect this
Tve heard Ericspent a lot on her. He saved up just to buy her gifts while chasing her. I thought it was all one–sided. Turns out she was encouraging hum the whole tine!
“No wonder Eric insulted her like that! She freeloaded gifts worth thousands and acted all superior! If it were me, I might be even more..
“We are all students with not much living allowance, and if someone receives gifts worth thousands… Tsk, sk, I have no idea how much she’s fleeced those admirent
“No wonder she always says she just wants to study and doesn’t want a boyfriend. Of course! One boyfriend isn’t enough for her. Staying single kreps a steady streams of gifs. What a scheme!”
“No wonder shes the school beauty. She’s got guys wrapped around her finger!”
Perhaps because of Eric’s expulsion, the crowd–despite their dissatisfaction with Maybelle’s actions–kept their criticisms to a whisper. No one wanted to risk being the next person punished for speaking out
Seeing everyone siding with him again, Eric regained his confidence and glared at Maybelle with resentment, “A bottle of perfume! That’s nothing! After all the things you’ve asked from me, do you really think returning one item clears the slate between us? If you’ve got the guts, return everything I gave you, intact

Chapter 71
Josie’s heart sank like a stone the moment she heard it–she knew things had went wrong.
She had anticipated that this incident might blow up, but never in such a public and humiliating way. If she was found to secretly receive gifts, she would be in big trouble!
Doing something that could be called stealing was already terrible. Beyond the principal and clean surely taking action, she glanced at the striking mixed–race guy nearby and dreaded the idea of embarrassing herself in front of him.
Time to cut and run! Josie turned her head, attempting to sneak away, only to be blocked by Maybelle’s quick moves.
With a cold smile, Maybelle asked. Josie, where are you going?”
Seeing no way out, Josie couldn’t understand why Maybelle was holding her arm so tightly at such a critical moment, almost like she had lost her mind.
Josie was so nervous that she was practically sweating, her voice shaky. “I…I’m not going anywhere…
Maybelle gave her a knowing smile, then turned to Eric with a calm expression and asked, “Since you’re so sure I’ve taken a lot from you, care to tell me exactly what I’ve gotten!”
Every time Eric bought her something expensive, he would make sure to show it off to his friends, the kind of guy who would totally put “I once pursued the school beauty” on his resume after graduation.
Upon hearing Maybelle’s question, Eric quickly started listing off, “Three tubes of some luxury lipstick, a bottle of high–end perfume, a set of premium skincare… a platinum necklace worth about hundreds, oh, and two concert tickets!”
He wasn’t sure if it was just his imagination, but as he ticked off the gifts he’d bought for Maybelle, he thought he heard a mocking laugh from that particularly handsome guy.
Eric found this guy totally confusing. What’s so funny about it? He was just a regular middle schooler, and spending all this money on gifts for a girl was already pretty impressive, okay?
He continued arrogantly, “With all these things, you probably can’t return them now, right? And 1 don’t even want any of your used stuff, it’s disgusting! I’ve kept all the receipts, so you can pay me back in full. I promise I’ll leave you alone… But if you don’t come up with the money today, you’re nothing but a gold digger!”
