With that, I stared at Jaylon coldly, threw the design draft at his face, and left.
Nadia’s gaze was full of smug satisfaction, and the others looked arrogant.
I understood now. This had been her plan all along.
“Aurora, now that you’re here, why not stay and join us?” Nadia said sweetly, trying to hide her faltering composure.
Without missing a beat, I replied lightly, “Looking at certain people makes me lose my appetite. I think I’ll pass.”
Her perfect smile faltered for just a moment before she quickly recovered.
“Aurora, do you have to lash out like this?”
I ignored her, my gaze fixed on Jaylon as I spoke, “How many times did you leave me. because of her? If you loved her, would you have ever said yes to me? I was nothing

more than a placeholder in your little love triangle.”
Jaylon’s expression darkened. “I’ve told you before. I only see Nadia as a sister.”
Nadia’s smile froze, not expecting him to say that.
But I could not bring myself to care anymore. The whole situation felt like a farce. Everyone seemed to think I was the clown in this tragicomedy.
“I do not care anymore what your relationship is. The only thing I am sure of
is that from now on, you and I have nothing to do with each other. Do not bother me again.”
Taking a deep breath, I composed myself and left.
Once home, I deleted every trace of them from my life, cutting off all contact.
I had learned my lesson. Getting burned once should be enough.

Work was now my only path forward, and I threw myself into it with everything I had.
My boss, Rodney Keith, even noticed the shift in my behavior and often stopped by my desk to check on me.
“Ms. Pittman, are you trying to lead us into the Fortune 500?” he teased one day, “You’re working harder than me.”
Startled by the time, I apologized and tried to downplay it. “I just love my job.”
I said with an awkward laugh, scratching my head as I noticed the dark sky outside.
It was already past 1 a.m.
“Alright, I know you’re hardworking. Let me treat you to dinner. I’m buying a barbecue.”
I hurriedly waved my hands, not wanting to impose.
But Rodney insisted. “Think of me as a friend, not just your boss.”

Reluctantly, I agreed because of his humble
attitude.
But just as we stepped outside the
company, I spotted a familiar car parked
nearby. It belonged to Jaylon.
Rodney raised an eyebrow and asked.
curiously, “Do you know that guy?”
I sighed. “No, I do not.”
Not wanting to deal with Jaylon’s unpredictable behavior, I convinced Rodney to leave first.
Seeing my determined expression, Rodney had no choice but to drive away first.
Jaylon, however, looking like an abandoned child, shot an angry glance at me and asked, “Who is that man?”
I ignored him and kept walking.
He grabbed my wrist, his voice filled with barely restrained rage. “Aurora, why aren’t you answering me? Who is he?”

I looked him straight in the eyes, my tone icy. “Jaylon, we broke up. You have no right to question me anymore.”
