Chapter 42

You little glutton. Fine. I’ll give you some, but you have to stop being picky about only eating the good stuff,Daphne said

After taking care of everything at home, she finally had time to think about her own situation

She stood in front of a fulllength mirror, placed a hand on her belly, and gently stroked it. There was a life growing inside her, and she had meant to get rid of it. Daphne had left him decisively, so why did Lester still come back to help her? Why couldn’t he just pretend they had never met

If he had, she could have steeled herself to go through with the abortion. But instead, it had to stir that soft spot deep in her heart

Alone in a foreign land with no friends, Lester was the only person Daphne knew. When the police suspected her, she had thought she was done for. But Lester had stepped in and resolved it for her. Now, she was tom

Lucien lay in his dog bed and noticed her hesitant expression. He couldn’t figure out what she was thinking until his gaze fell on her hand

Herbelly? Could it be….

If he could help the Renegade Coalition eliminate Lester’s child, that would be a major contribution. With that thought, he bolted from his bed and wreaked havoc

on the room

By the time Daphne supped out from her daze, Lucien had already tumed the living room into a mess. Dog food was scattered everywhere, the water bowl was knocked over, his bed was ripped apart, and the couch wasn’t spared either

All she could think was that he was currently attacking her pillow

Luc, stop it! This is a rented apartment. You can’t chew the pillows, she shouted

sly as he weaved

With a sharp rip, the pillow split in two. As Lucien turned his sights on the couch, Daphne grabbed a broom and swung at him. He dodged effortlessly around her while she struggled to keep up

Seeing the defiant look on his face, she pretended to stand up. But as soon as she was halfway up, her vision went black, and she nearly passed out

Daphne rested on the couch for a while, and Lucien seemed to sense her exhaustion and finally stopped causing trouble

She already had her hands full with just a dog and a toddler. If she had more kids, she’d never catch a break. Besides, her body didn’t seem suited for pregnancy- even the slightest exertion and she’d falur

Now that Daphine had legal status, she could finally go to a hospital for a checkup. As long as she avoided a fullbody exam, there was no risk of anyone discovering she was a human. After all, her vitals closely matched those of the Apekins

After cesting all morning, she left Ellie at home and went to the hospital alone in the afternoon

She was afraid to go to the Hildi Beastkin Hospital. It was owned by the Waltzan family, and any record of her visit would inevitably reach Lester, Then, he’d find out she was pregnant with his child

So, she went to the Silvervale Hospital Instead

Hildi had four hospitals

Beastin Hospital for the nobles, Salvervale Hospital for middleclass families, and Harborline Hospital for the general public

Although all thine hospitals provided the same level of care, the cost of treatment aceastin Hospital was far beyond what ordinary families could afford

The fourth was the Royal Hospital, which was exclusive to the royal family. Unless granted permission by the emperor, even officials were not allowed to seek treatment there freely. The royal family’s health status was strictly confidential and could ever be disclosed

Daphine took a flying car to salvervale Hospital and registered at the obstetrics department. She had an ultrasound to check on the baby, but it was still too early to tell how many bables she was carrying

The doctor, Sylvie Marlowe, suspected Daplane’s dizziness came from overexertion during the move, and her pregnancy wasn’t very stable

Daphne was prescribed medication to talu regularly. Before leaving, she asked Sylvie II she could have an abortion

Yes,Sylvie replied

Dapline felt relieved that her pregnancy was still in its early stages, so she had time to reconsider

Among Beastki, an unstable pregnancy often led to termination. They believed that weak offspring would struggle to survive, Lace ridicule, and be looked down upon by others. Only strong and healthy ones were respected and considered desirable mutes, regardless of gender

Upon seeing the frail and underweight Dupline, Sylvie couldn’t help but feel sympathy. It seemed that her poor family conditions had likely caused malnutrition, and at such a young age to be pregnanthow unfortunate
