Chapter 20
The snakelet was scared and couldn’t sleep well. He finally made it to the next day.
Daphne had said she would come see him, but he didn’t know when. He was afraid he would miss her if he fell asleep, so he forced himself to stay awake.
He waited and waited, all the way until the sun was almost setting, but Daphne still hadn’t come.
Meanwhile, Daphne was teasing the black puppy using a cat treat..
“Luc,come bere, I have something yummy for you.”
No matter how much Daphne tried to tempt him, Lucien wouldn’t come over. Sometimes, she even saw him frowning, which made her think he seemed almost
human.
Emma came over to remind her she needed to visit the makelet
“Ms. Miller, you asked me to remind you. I’ve already done it a few times, but you keep putting it off. Do you dislike your own child?”
“Do I dislike him?” Daphne considered it. Even Lucien looked over at her.
“This is the child of my most admired Herkoen. You’d better not dislike him, nr 1’ll eat you in the middle of the night,” Lucien thought.
It wasn’t true for her to say she disliked him. After all, she carried him for a month and then gave birth to him,
If he had been a cat or a dog, maybe it would be fine, but he happened to be a snake. She just couldn’t get over it. The sight of a snake made her whole body tremble.
“Oh, I’ll go in a bit,” she said.
“Ms. Miller, you really should go soon. The snakedet already has his own thoughts. If you don’t visit him, he’ll think you dislike him. It’ll be tough to get along after
that
“understand.”
Lue thought, “I have an idea.”
Daphne was just about to stand up and gather her things to check on the snakelet when Lucien suddenly started rubbing against her hand
“Ms. Miller, Luc finally accepts you as his owner, “Emuma said.
Hearing Emma’s words, Daphase immediately put the cat treat near Lucien’s mouth.
He was a wolf, but he was now forced to eat cat treats. He found it disgusting but still licked it and wagged his tall to please ber
He was given the task of bringing back the snakelets. No one had said anything about bringing back Daphne. That meant Helen and Richard probably didn’t like her, so it didn’t matter much whether she lived or died.
Meanwhile, the snakelet waited until it was dark, but Daphne still didn’t come. He kept telling himself she must have been held up by something
But in the end, be only saw Lester and Victor.
“Colonel Lester, do you want me to take this anake to the hospital right now?” Victor asked.
No need. We can wait another two or three days until his psionic strength settles.”
Lester didn’t even glance at the snakelet. He picked up some documents and left with Victor
But before walking away, he stood in front of the glass box and threatened him not to try to escape.
The snakelet shrank into a comer, feeling hurt. Why hadn’t Daphne come? He was scared.
Even past midnight, the snakelet still hadn’t seen Daphne. He became completely furious as he stared at the clock on the wall. He was sure Daphne didn’t like him.
Snakes didn’t live in groups. The snakelet was truly angry now. His mother didn’t like him and wouldn’t come to see him. He hadn’t even met his father and felt like nobody wanted him
He just wanted to hide somewhere. Everything around him smelled like an eagle, and every breath made him feel atraid.
with his Rank 555 psionic strength, all it took was a little focus to shatter the glassbox.
Since the office was soundproofed, the soldiers outside didn’t hear such a small sound. The snakelet piled open a window and left.
The next day, Dapluse prepared plenty of delicious food, she had thought it over last night. He was her chilld, after all
If he could eventually evolve into a Beastlin form, he’d still be her cute son. There was no need for him to stay in his original form
She took what she had prepared and went to Lester’s study. Since Lester had already informed the guards, she was allowed in easily.
The imponent she saw the shattered glass box, she let out a scream that brought the soldiers rushing in from outside.
The snakelet is gonel”
The soldiers investigated and told her to go back and wall. They promised to let her know as soon as they found something.
Daphne felt sad. Could someone have taken him? That couldn’t be
The manor had very strong defenses, so nobody would be able to sneak in
Then who could it have been? She just hoped her child was sale.
Atthe Renegade Coalition, Richard was overjoyed to see his grandson lying unconscious in his amis
Herkoen lounged in a chair nearby with his legs crossed. Normally, Richard would scold him for being irresponsible, but right now, everything was different.
“Herkoen, you’ve done a great deed this time. The Wenley family finally has a descendant,” Richard said.
Herken didn’t even lift his eyes. “oh”
Richard banded the child over to him. “Check your son’s strength. Hopefully, he’s Rank 5. Once he has offspring of his own, we can teach him how to raise his psionic strength.
“Beastlan live long lives. We can afford to wait.”
Herkoen impatiently placed his hand on the child. The next second, his face hit up in excitement.
“That’s what I’d expect from my son. He’s as strong as I am.”
Richard’s brows furrowed. “How strong?”
Rank 555.”
“What?” Richard nearly fainted.
He had finally stopped worrying about his son not having any children. Now, he had to worry all over again about his grandson. It seemed he would spend his whole life concemed.
“What good is it to be that strong? The most important thing for Beastkin is to have descendants. Look at how many powerful beings used to be in the Rose Star Galaxy. In the end, their psionic strength was too high, and they couldn’t have children. Then, they all went extinct.
Herkoen hadn’t considered that. His only thought was that his body was strong enough to produce such a powerful child. But as for future descendants….
As a father, he had the responsibility to raise and educate the child.
“Is there a way to suppress his psionic strength?” Herkoen asked.
Richard gave a mirthless laugh. “Do you think this is child’s play? If I knew how to do that, I wouldn’t have worried all the time about you not having any lads.” Herkoen fell silent.
“Alright, take the child back and look after him. I’ll gather the officials in the coalition for a meeting and see if there’s a solution.”
Upon talding the snakelet home, Herkoen suddenly realized he had forgotten something Important–he had no idea how to take care of a child.
So, he hired a sidlied Serpentin nanny to teach him.
She especially emphasized that the child shouldn’t be separated from his mother while growing up, or else the child would lose, his sense of empathy. Herkner burst into sarcastic laughter. “It was just a one–night stand. She’s not worthy of being my son’s mother. Besides, my son doesn’t need empathy.” Once someone had a weakness, it was easy for the enemy to threaten laim. For the Serpentin, love was the cheapest thing and not worth having.
The snukelet slept very soundly with Herkoen’s powerful palonic strength. While asleep, he evolved into his Beastkin form.
He became a little boy who looked about a year old. He lay on the small bed, muttering for his mother in his sleep.
Herkoen gave a cold snort. He raised his hand and wiped away any memories the little boy had before this.
From now on, you only have your father. You will not remember having a mother,”
