Chapter 50
Alfred said, “She has six brothers protecting her. How could she possibly not be living well?”
Cedric said unhappily, “She also has an adoptive sister, the daughter of her family’s old driver. The Liddells treat her sister very well, whereas Noelle is often ignored and treated unfairly.”
At first, he had also assumed that Noelle was living a comfortable life. But now, he realized that she was just pitiful. He could not help but feel his heart soften and be filled with an urge to be kind to her whenever he saw her.
Alfred sighed when he heard Cedric’s explanation. “I’ve always thought her brother’s attitude in the infirmary that day was strange.
“I assumed she was being naughty, but it turns out that there’s more to the story. Judging by how obedient she was just now, she doesn’t seem like the troublemaker people make her seem to be.”
Who in their right mind would be biased to such an extent? How could they be so protective of their adoptive sibling while ignoring their biological sister?
Cedric said, “That’s why I wanted to make things up to her. If her parents hadn’t been in that accident, she would not be living such a harsh life.” He turned his head and looked down,
concealing the sadness that flashed across his eyes.
Alfred could not help but say, “What happened back then was an accident. You can’t put all the blame on yourself. If you want to treat her well, go ahead. You two are also in somewhat of the
same boat.”
However, Alfred could not help but be filled with worry. He felt Cedric was crossing the line with how well he was treating Noelle. Perhaps even Cedric himself hadn’t realized that he was crossing the line.
There was a thunderstorm the next day, and Noelle stared at the rain with a troubled expression. It was the first official day of her period. Her stomach would definitely act out if
her shoes were to get wet.
As she packed her bag, she heard the sound of the door opening.
Alfred waved his hand and said, “Good morning, Noelle. It’ll definitely be hard for you to call a cab, considering the heavy rain. Why don’t we send you to school today?”
Cedric stood by the side, glanced at her, and said, “Let’s go.”
Noelle accepted their offer, and her mood had significantly improved.
They headed to the parking lot. When Noelle saw that black luxury car, she turned to Alfred

and asked, “Does that car also belong to you?”
Cedric picked her up yesterday in that car. Last night, as she lay in bed, she felt the urge to look it up. Only then did she learn that the car cost millions of dollars.
Alfred chuckled awkwardly before saying, “That’s right. This is my car. Do you see those lines? Isn’t he a beauty?” It was not every day that he had the opportunity to claim rights over a car. He would be a fool not to take that opportunity.
Cedric sat in the passenger’s seat and looked at his friend coldly. “You can drive then.”
“Alright!” Alfred exclaimed happily. After all, he had set his eyes on that car a long time ago. It was a shame Cedric had bought it before he could.
Noelle sat in the back seat, filled with envy as she watched them interact. Because of Xenia, she had never had the opportunity to make any friends.
Hence, she was envious and wanted something similar to what Cedric and Alfred had.
The rain was pouring heavily, and there was slight traffic on the way there. There were also a lot of cars parked at the school gates‘ entrance.
Cedric got down first, holding a black umbrella. Then, he walked toward the back seat’s car
door.
Noelle froze momentarily before she opened the car door and got down.
- The rain was so heavy that it blurred everything around her, yet not a single drop touched her.
His long, slender hand held the umbrella, exposing just a portion of his arm. The large umbrella then shielded her from the rain, leaving a dry, protected space just for her.
“Is there only one umbrella?” Noelle asked.
“Of course not! Noelle, you can take this umbrella and head to class,” Alfred called out as he braved the rain to grab another umbrella from the back seat. Clearly, he was trying to keep Cedric and Noelle at a distance.
Cedric’s expression remained unchanged as he handed Noelle the umbrella. When she took it, she could still feel the lingering warmth of his hand on the handle.
She lowered her gaze and murmured, “I’ll head in now.‘
She was in a good mood as she headed into the school when someone shouted, “Noelle, wait! Can I share the umbrella with you?”
