Chapter 64

Lilian noticed Filip not uttering a word, but his gaze was deep as if he was mulling over something

She went on. Besides. Cynthia longed to divorce. Now that she latched onto Jonathan, she couldn’t care less about being the daughterinlaw of the Yates family. She said she’s dumping you for good so that I can have you to myself. She even signed a divorce agreement and passed it to me. I bet she’s raring to throw herself at that Mr. Bennett

She then continued to whisper. You always knew she was such woman. When presented with a better choice, she’ll ditch you again.”

Lilian had her own point of view on why Jonathan suddenly showed up that night to announce Cynthia as his girlfriend. Since Cynthia was a neat freak and Filip was her childhood sweetheart, although Filip had betrayed her, she still insisted on marrying him

Plus, she had been with Filip abroad over the years yet never exacted revenge on him and Lilian, considering her bad temper. Lilian figured that Cynthia must be waiting for Filip to have a change of heart and had been enduring it for fear that the tension between them would reach a point of no return

Cynthia had always been one who could never turn a blind eye. The only reason she could have endured it all was that she loved Filip too much, hence would never cheat on Filip, or so Lilian thought

As for Jonathan, perhaps he had become chummy with Cynthia after the last interview. When he showed up that day, it so happened that Cynthia’s sorry state came into sight, so presumably, he had intervened out of chivalry

Never would Lilian believe that something romantic was going on between Cynthia and Jonathan, for it had been less than a month since they knew each other after the interview

Hearing Lilian’s words, Filip realized something was off. His gaze turned deep as he let go of Lilian before asking with a long face, You said Cynthia signed a divorce agreement and passed it to you?”

In a jiffy, Lilian fished out the document from her bag. She had been preparing for that moment ever since she talked with Cynthia that day. At long last, her golden opportunity had come

Cynthia had made it clear to Lilian that she would sign the divorce agreement as long as Filip signed it first. However, Lilian reckoned Filip would never do so because Henry, Pamela, and Matthew were all putting him under immense pressure; and Cynthia had no qualms precisely because of it

In Lilian’s book, things might work if Filip thought Cynthia had signed the papers, for his prideful character might spur him on to

g it on the spot, despite knowing that he might regret iter

So, Lilian imitated Cynthia’s handwriting with a special erasable pen and faked Cynthia’s signature on the agreement. She would wait until Filip signed it before fetching Cynthia the document with Filip’s signature. By then, there was a good chance that Cynthia would sign it, Such was her master plan

Fortunately, Lilian was best at imitating Cynthia’s handwriting. The diary back then that had successfully fooled Filip was a testament to that. That very incident was also the cornerstone that led to Filip and Cynthia going their separate ways

Filip picked up the divorce agreement and flipped to the last page, only to glimpse Cynthia’s signature on it. His heart pounded hard, as if something was ready to pop out from within-

Cynthia could not possibly have signed such a divorce agreement, for they had yet to get married, so no divorce procedures were needed. Moreover, she had unilaterally announced their breakup and even moved out of the Yates residence

Be that as it might, Lilian had no idea whatsoever. Hence, only one possibility remainedthe clueless Lilian was the one who drafted the divorce agreement and tried to compel him into signing it before forcing Cynthia to sign it just as well. That way, Lilian would reach her goal of divorcing them. It was indeed an elaborate hoax. Had Filip wedded Cynthia, he

would have gotten the wrong idea that Cynthia had signed it for Considering their ego, they would both sign it in the end

Lalian’s lying to me again! Filip mused, clenching the agreemen, nearly squeezing it out of shape Then again, that was net the most pressing issue

Filip pinned his eyes on Cynthia’s signature. The woman’s style of penning her signature had always been distinctive enough because she had learned cursive penmanship from a farious mentor since childhood

As a result, her handwriting had an artistic touch yet was slick will a modern look, forming her very own personal style. thus being easy to recognize

Filip grew up with Cynthia, so he could recognize her signature at a glance. Despite it being in line with Cynthia’s characteristics, including the tiny tick trailing the stroke, not to mention the identical angle and force used, he knew Cynthia could not have signed the papers

Lilian spotted how Filip grimaced as his deep gaze surged with unpredictable emotions. She was quite uncertain whether Filip would sign the divorce agreement, but there was no turning back at that point

Filip, Cynthia’s already signed it. For the sake of our baby, sign, will you? Our baby needs a legitimate father.” Lilian tugged at Filip’s arm

Ultimately, Filip looked up and stared at Lilian, That strange, alienated gaze made Lilian’s heart thump. She could even sense Filip’s restrained fury. Then came the man’s cold, terrifying voice. Are you sure Cynthia signed this herself, Lilian?”

Lilian froze, secretly questioning herself, Why’d Filip ask this? She sported a serious, even innocent mien. One could barely bear to suspect that she was bluffing. She piped up. She signed it before my eyes, not even batting an eyelash.”

Filip looked Lilian in the eye as if something was about to be unveiled. He seemed to have guessed it when he suddenly remembered the last time he was wasted and mentioned the diary to Cynthia

That time, Cynthia asked him to show her the diary as proof. He had seen how forthright she was without a lick of guilt, which made him wonder since when she picked up on the art of disguise. At present, it seemed that Cynthia truly had been in the dark..

Given that Lilian could forge Cynthia’s signaturealmost an exact imitationthen it was highly likely that every bit written in that diary was Lilian’s fabrication

Realization dawned upon Filip. He only felt his blood boiling, his heart racing, and the pain within about to explode. The veins on his forehead bulged, his temples twitching as he eyed lilian, who appeared as innocent as a lamb

He suddenly felt stupid, being led on by the nose. It turned out that Lilian had been manipulating and brainwashing him for years. At that point, she still looked fragile and pitiful, with traces of tears on her face

Witnessing that pair of deceitful eyes, Filip
