Chapter 47
Filip came to his senses in an instant. He stood up and looked at Cynthia coldly.
Just moments ago, he had been bewitched and wanted to kiss her. But now, having been caught in the act, there was only embarrassment and discomfort displayed on his face.
Filip didn’t deny it, nor did he offer any explanation. Instead, he turned and left the room.
When he passed by Lilian, he remained silent. Maybe it was out of guilt, he didn’t even look at her.
Lilian’s heart felt as if it had sunk into depths of a vast ocean.
Filip left the TV station and got into his car. He felt frustrated. It was as if a dark box had been opened inside him, unleashing an uncontrollable–a worldly desire for Cynthia.
Over the years, not even with Lilian had he ever felt anything like that.
The doctor explained that the burns from that accident had damaged something essential, which was why he and Lilian’s child had conceived their child through IVF.
To this day, they had never been intimate. That was why he felt guilty about Lilian. However, just now, it was as if a beast inside him had begun to stir.
Filip closed his eyes, and Cynthia’s beautiful face quickly flashed in his mind. They were so close earlier, close enough for him to notice the tiny mole near the corner of her eyes and catch the intoxicating scent she carried.
Her skin was delicate and smooth, like a fine white emerald, making him want to hold and caress it gently.
With those thoughts, Filip felt like a fire had ignited deep within him. There were even subtle changes in his body.

Despite knowing that Lilian had used Vivian to frame Cynthia, Filip was willing to take responsibility for Lilian, and their relationship didn’t seem to have changed at all. His tolerance and forgiveness were something that even Cynthia found surprising. She wondered what had come over him earlier.

Cynthia laughed. It was rare for her to see Lilian this frantic, like a cornered animal. ‘It seems she was truly panicking” she thought.
She lounged comfortably on the couch, looking relaxed and lazy “I always thought your love is strong. Back then, I was shocked that Filip would give up everything for you. You two were like a pair of star–crossed lovers. But now, it seems like Filip is just like any other man, preferring the new over the old.
Cynthia shot Lilian a sidelong glance with a knowing smile at the corner of her eyes, but her words were dripping with scorn, “Lilian, you’re a nobody and only clinging to Filip’s love. But love is a fickle thing, isn’t it? I bet there were countless nights you spent worrying.
Lilian’s face turned pale at her words. When it came to talking, one could outmatch Cynthia.
Lilian was starting to lose control of her emotions, “It’s all your fault that I’m a nobody! Filip doesn’t love you anymore. Why do you keep holding on to him? What will it take for you to divorce him?”
Cynthia’s expression shifted at Lilian’s words. She wondered if Filip had never told Lilian that they were not legally married.
In the past, she could understand why Filip had kept the secret from his family, as he likely wanted to avoid any unnecessary complications. However, now that they had fallen apart and gone separate ways, she wondered why he hadn’t come clean to
Lilian.
Cynthia’s eyes flickered slightly. What was Filip up to? He didn’t seem to love Lilian that much. Otherwise, why would he keep something so crucial from her, knowing how desperately she craved the title of Mrs. Yates?
Amusement bubbled inside her. There was a rift between Filip and Lilian, and she didn’t mind widening it. With a sly thought, she said deliberately, “Divorce? Sure. If you can get him to sign the papers first, I’ll sign right after.
Then, she stood up and walked to Lilian slowly. With a smile, she continued, “Let’s see what you’re capable of, Lilian.” Cynthia knew Lilian’s personality well. Now that she had laid a challenge, the latter would undoubtedly march straight to Filip with a divorce agreement in hand.
Then, she would know that Filip had been hiding the truth that they had never been married to her for years.
The title that she tirelessly pursued and longed for was within her grasp all along, but Filip had never given it to her. The rift between them would only grow bigger and bigger and further lead to a fierce argument,
Just those thoughts alone amused Cynthia. She didn’t know exactly what Lilian had done back then to sow discord between her and Filip, but karma had a way of catching up.
Cynthia was in an unusually good mood that day, especially when she received a call from Jonathan after the broadcast. He was supposed to be on a week–long business trip, but he had returned early and was currently waiting outside the TV station.
“Wait for me,” Cynthia replied and eagerly left the building. She hadn’t seen him for three days, yet she felt a strange longing
in her heart.
In no time, she climbed into Jonathan’s Maybach, but he wasn’t alone in the car.
Claud was in the driver’s seat while Jonathan sat in the back. She hesitated for a moment before opening the rear door and sliding in beside Jonathan. After all, Claude was well aware of their relationship.
Once she was in, the car pulled away from the station.
Along the way, the normally quiet Claude suddenly spoke. “Ms. Jones, Mr. Bennett really put us through the wringer this time. The original seven–day schedule was crammed into three. Our entire team worked non–stop for almost 72 hours like a machine. We almost didn’t make it.

His tone was full of complaints, but Cynthia didn’t understand why Claude was telling her that. However, she still asked curiously. “Why rush the schedule if it was already set?”
Claude said faintly, “Because Mr. Bennett wanted to make it back in time for your birthday
You talk too much!” Jonathan suddenly said.
Claude rolled his eyes silently. “You were the one who told me to say it. You even forced me to rehearse twice earlier! he thought to himself.
