She sat at the vanity, applying her makeup. Her hair was styled in large, cascading waves that fell over her shoulders, and her makeup was flawless, highlighted by bold red lips. The entire look made her appear both refined and alluring.
Jonathan walked over and stood behind Cynthia, placing his hands on her shoulders. “Are you going out?”
Cynthia put her lipstick back in the drawer. “I’m going to the Jones residence tonight.”

He thought, ‘Cynthia rarely went back on her own.”
Cynthia shook her head. “There are some things that need to be sorted out.”
Jonathan knew she was referring to Shirley. Cynthia had long suspected that Shirley had conspired with Luke to kill her, and it was Lilian who had taken the bullet meant for her.
During this time, Jonathan had also been investigating. He discovered that Shirley and Luke indeed had a close relationship and were involved in frequent large financial transactions. However, none of this could serve as evidence to prove that Shirley had–hired someone to commit murder.
He did uncover a significant amount of dirt on Shirley’s past. For instance, she had been expelled from school for stealing in her sophomore year. Later, while attending a vocational school, she had bullied a classmate to the point of causing their depression and eventual suicide.
If any of this information were to leak, it would be enough to bring Shirley crashing down. Especially concerning the bullying incident that resulted in a death, it was not impossible to reopen the case and potentially send Shirley to prison.
Aside from her foolishness and cruelty, Shirley didn’t have much to fear. The real concern lay in her current backing, Whitney. Whitney had connections to Ruben, which meant that even if the incident were brought to light, it could easily turn into a protracted battle.
Ultimately, it would become a power struggle between Jonathan and Whitney.
Cynthia, however, suggested letting it go. She mentioned having a better plan to make Shirley pay for her actions.

Jonathan drove Cynthia back to the Jones residence. Cynthia hadn’t informed the Jones family of their return, so when they arrived, both Justin and Selena were taken by surprise. At that moment, they were in the dining room, enjoying their dinner.
