Selena pondered for a moment. “You mentioned it before. On the day Cynthia was born, someone saw her and gave her this pendant. Who was it again?”
“It was Sam Xenos,” said Justin.
“Who is he?” Selena was confused.
“You are really out of the loop. Don’t you know Sam Xenos? The Xenos family is one of the four prominent families in Betrico, and they were once just as powerful as the Bennett farruly,” said Justin
Selena thought for a second. Almost everyone knew the four major families in Betrico. The Bennett family, the Sullivan family, the Sexton family, and the Xenos family. These four families nearly monopolized the economic development in the city.
However, Betrico was far from Roncrity. If it weren’t for Jonathan, they probably wouldn’t have ever crossed paths with those at the top of the social ladder.
Selena was surprised. “How are you connected to the Xenos family from Betrico? Why would they give Cynthia something so precious?”
Justin replied, “Sam’s parents are from Roncrity, and so is his wife, who used to be a famous reporter at the local TV station. On the day Cynthia was born, she was also giving birth at Harmonious Maternity Hospital. Do you remember all the chaos”
Selena remembered every detail. So much had unfolded. There was a pregnant woman who experienced severe complications and was bleeding heavily. All the doctors and nurses rushed to help.
The hospital was in total disarray, with all staff members rushingo help. Although the woman ultimately survived, she gave birth to a stillborn baby.
Later, a nurse mentioned that the infant was born seemingly healthy and was taken to the nursery. However, because of the chaos that day, when someone went to check on the baby later, it had already died.
Many people got involved in this. Shortly after the incident, the hospital was shut down. It was unclear if the Xenos family had any involvement in that.
The Xenos family was once powerful, holding significant influence in Betrico and far surpassing the Sexton family and the Sullivan family. For years, they were evenly matched with the Bennetts. However, from that year on, the Xenos family gradually disappeared.
Sam and his wife moved abroad, and he slowly shifted his business operations overseas. However, some of his sons remained in the country while others settled abroad.
Justin had recently thought of Sam because of some big news. It was said that Sam was returning home this month to pay respects to his ancestors.

Justin said, “That pendant wa
meant for his newborn daughter. However, her death overwhelmed Mr. Xenos. When we left the hospital, he happened to be lost in thought in the hallway, staring at the pendant and crying, Just then, Cynthia’s cries caught his attention.

Selena pondered for a moment. Velorix was founded by her father. He was an ordinary man who built a brand to get her mother. Yet, in the end, he ended up having an affair with Rachel’s mother, leading to her mother’s death due to depression.

“If you can both open up and let go of past conflicts, our family can be as close as before. By then, which family in Roncrity could compare to us?”
