It slithered slowly toward Cynthia’s bed, head raised and eyes fixed. For a split second, Nina froze in horror, her heart hammering as her blood seemed to turn to ice.
Her pupils suddenly widened, and her limbs became stiff.
“Aaah–Nina’s scream shattered the night’s stillness.
“There’s a snake! Cynthia, wake up!” Nina’s voice trembled as she tried desperately to warn Cynthia.
Abby jolted awake and spotted the head–lifted cobra by Cynthia’s bed.
