The next day, as the first light was starting to show, Cherise was about to get up when Morris turned over and pulled her tightly into his arms.
“Mrs. Chivers, today is New Year’s Eve. Stay with me a bit longer just one more hour!” Morris said in a sleepy, teasing voice.
Cherise shook his arm. “Mr. Chivers, this is our first New Year together, let’s get up early and get ready!”
Morris nestled his head into her neck. “I always disliked New Year’s the most. Because every home was filled with laughter, and I was alone, not even wanting to visit the Chivers residence.
“On New Year’s Eve, I just wanted to lock myself in the office, do overtime, like a heartless money–making machine. I really didn’t know how New Year’s Eve or New Year’s felt.
“I’m glad that starting this year, I have you. It’s really making me look forward to it!”
As he said this, he unknowingly let out a laugh.
Cherise reached out and patted his head. “Okay, let’s get one more hour of sleep and then I’ll take you to experience the New Year spirit!
“Ever since I was five and Grandma took me back to Yasvissa, I’ve been really looking forward to New Year every year.”
Morris heard this and kissed Cherise. “Great, starting this year, I have another holiday to look forward to.”
Two hours later, the two of them, dressed up and ready, showed up in a large supermarket not far from the base of Azure Peak
Morris looked at Cherise, who was wearing a fancy coat and looking very cute, and felt a sense of peace he had never felt
before.
He held her hand with one and pushed the cart with the other. Cherise kept grabbing her favorite snacks from the shelves and putting them into the cart.

before.
It was nice. The genuine smile on his face reflected his true feelings.
Morris said, “You pick everything you like, and I’ll handle the payment and empty the cart.”
At that moment, they were just an average, sweet young couple.
There were plenty of people in the supermarket, mostly residents living around Azure Peak, and almost all of them knew
Morris.
Seeing such an attractive couple shopping together, everyone looked at them with envy.
“Should I get this?” Cherise picked up a bag of marshmallows, gave it a shake, and asked Morris,

Morris didn’t say anything. His eyes were focused on Cherise. Honey, let’s go check over there and buy something to take to the old house tonight!”
Cherise nodded sweetly. “Sure, what should we buy? Take me to choose something.”
They completely ignored Yulia.
Yulia stood stiffly on the spot, her hands clenched tightly together.
The sight of their hands holding tightly together hurt her.
She felt completely foolish for having gone up to say hello. She thought, “Wasn’t this just setting myself up for discomfort? I could have ignored it, so why make things hard for herself?”

They drove back to Chivers Residence with a car full of things.

“Wow, Mrs. Chivers, you look so shining today, like a peacock in full bloom! That new hairstyle and lipstick shade suit you. perfectly. Anyone would mistake you for a young, fashionable lady, Leo said as he noticed Phoebe.
Phoebe hadn’t been this happy in ages. “Isn’t that right! I think it suits me perfectly too. Leo, call Morris and check if he and my granddaughter–in–law have left yet?”
Just as she finished speaking, Cherise’s sweet voice rang out, “Grandma, we’re here. Happy New Year, everyone!”
Around the dinner table, everyone gathered for a New Year’s feast, raising glasses to toast to a wonderful future.
After dinner, Phoebe handed out gifts to everyone. It was the first time in many years that the Chivers residence had such a lively and enjoyable New Year dinner.
