In a refined restaurant in a high–end shopping center in Betrico, three attractive women sat together, frequently catching the attention of the men around them.
One of these women was Yulia, another was Mary’s granddaughter, Morris’s cousin, Jean.
The last one, also a striking beauty, was a distant niece of the Quinton family on Mary’s mother’s side, a low–key socialite from Betrico, Lisa Quinton
She and Yulia met in college in Manesia, and they quickly became close friends.
“Yulia, you look so pretty today,” Lisa said with a smile when she saw Yulia.
Being complimented made her happy. Yulia said, “Thanks, Lisa! You’re even prettier, and so talented yet so humble.”
Jean, standing nearby, rolled her eyes at the two of them. “Ugh, you two gorgeous ladies, aren’t you tired of it? Are you really going to act like I don’t exist?
“My looks don’t quite match up with yours. Should I just leave?”
Yulia and Lisa exchanged a knowing smile, and the atmosphere was very pleasant.
Lisa spoke up, “Our little princess Jean is of course the cutest of all
“That’s more like it,” Jean said proudly.
Then she added, “But seriously, have you guys heard of my cousin Morris? Everybody knows him, right?”
Yulia’s cheeks flushed a little when she heard Morris’s name, and she nodded slightly.
Lisa nodded confidently. “Of course, didn’t he just get married recently?”
Hearing the words “got married,” Yulia bit her lip.
Jean clapped her hands. “Exactly, did you see the photos? My cousin’s wife absolutely matches my taste. She’s gorgeous
“I’m really looking forward to meeting her when my cousin brings her to visit my grandpa.”
Hearing this, Lisa glanced at Yulia and cleared her throat.
“What’s going on, Lisa?” Jean asked, a bit puzzled.
Lisa glanced at Yulia again. “Yulia, is it okay to say
that?”
Yulia nodded. “Yeah, they’re married now, so it really doesn’t matter
Lisa leaned in closer to Jean “Yulia has had a crush on Morris since she was 16. I guess this is a form of heartbreak for her
Hearing this, Jean looked awkward, “Oh? Well, um, Yulia, maybe shouldn’t have mentioned it.”
“It’s alright,” Yulia said gracefully, “Morris’s wife is really amazing and I know her. They make a great couple.”
Lisa chuckled softly, “Jean and I have been abroad for so long, we don’t know that.
“But I’ve heard from some other friends that ever since she started dating Morris, she hasn’t been in touch with her own relatives from the Leach family. She doesn’t even speak to her hological father.

“She’s the CEO of GlobalVision Group but won’t even help out her own family that’s about to go bankrupt.”
“Huh? Really? That’s so ungrateful,” Jean said, looking a bit angry
“Well, people do say a lot of things these days. It might not even be true, Yulia said, chiming in at the right moment.
That was how it was when women gathered..
Lisa scoffed, “There’s no smoke without fire.”
Jean seemed to agree and nodded.
Yulia just glanced at them and took a sip of her coffee.

The next day, it was just two days before New Year’s.
After Morris left for work, Cherise stood by the door and then asked Hugh to drive her somewhere,
Half an hour later, they arrived at their destination.
Sitting in the car, Hugh looked at the tall iron gate with big letters on it, then turned to Cherise with a puzzled look, “Mrs. Chivers, are you sure this is the place?”
Cherise nodded. “Yes, just wait here for me. I won’t be long.”
Hugh was about to say something.
But Cherise spoke first, “Don’t worry, everyone inside is with me.
After saying this, she smiled, opened the door, and got out of the car.
Once she was out, she stood straight, looked up at the two big letters “Women’s Prison” on the iron gate, smirked, and then stepped forward through the gate.
It seemed like the people inside already knew Cherise was coming. Even before she approached, the gate, which was previously shut tight, was opened by staff to welcome her.
“Ms. Leach, Mr. Winter gave us instructions. This way, please.”
Cherise responded coolly with a nod and followed behind the staff.
They walked through the winding paths and stopped at the interrogation room door.
The staff opened the door and respectfully said, “Ms. Leach, please have a seat inside. We’ll bring the person to you shortly. Cherise didn’t speak, and she just nodded slightly.
Once inside, she sat down on the chair with the ease of someone familiar with the place.
Soon, in less than five minutes, two staff members in uniform brought in a woman wearing prison clothes into the -interrogation room.
The woman entered the room, and upon seeing Cherise sitting on the stool, frowned and said, “Why is it you?”
