Chapter 318
That evening, the group gathered at Cherise’s home for a wonderful dinner.
Bella’s cooking amazed everyone.
“Bella, your food is amazing! I couldn’t stop eating, even when I was full,” Xenia said, patting her stomach with a grin.
Leo added, “This is even better than what my mom makes! I’m thinking of staying here forever.
Bella beamed, enjoying the rare happiness in her home. “That’s wonderful! My house is big and peaceful. The more, the merrier! I’ll keep trying new dishes to keep everyone happy.”
Bella was well known in Saphira for her culinary talents. She had made a feast of sixteen dishes, each one a favorite that Cherise had loved since she was a child.
Cherise felt warmth in her heart as she smiled at her home, which she had designed brick by brick. Though she missed her beloved grandmother, everything else felt just right.
Truman, watching the two of them at the table, teased, “Who would have thought Mr. Chivers would be forced into drinking, and he couldn’t resist?”
“Ah, I have to record this moment–it might come in handy later!” Truman laughed.
Morris sat across from Dennis at a small table, both of them toasting with a few bottles of strong liquor.
The two men were going back and forth with toasts, and it was clear that Dennis was starting to feel the effects of the alcohol, his cheeks turning red.
Morris, however, seemed unaffected, though his gaze had a slightly more relaxed, charming look than usual.
When Morris’s glass was empty again, Dennis refilled it, saying, “Morris, I have to say, the more I look at you, the more I admire you! Your ability to handle liquor is legendary in Saphira
“You’re still so composed–knowing Ms. Leach is in your care gives me a lot of confidence. But be careful with her–when she drinks, she can be a handful. Keep an eye on her, or you might find yourself in trouble!”
Morris raised his glass, clinked it with Dennis’s, and drank it all in one go. “I promise,” he said, looking calm as ever.
There weren’t many people in the village at the moment, just a few households.
But as the dinner continued, many of the villagers came by to bring local treats for Cherise, sharing memories of her time away and showing how much they missed her and the taste of home.
It was heartwarming to see how much the villagers cared for her.
Later, as the night grew darker, Trent and Marlon said their goodbyes, while the rest of the guests who were staying at Cherise’s house began to prepare for bed.
But Morris and Dennis weren’t done yet.
Dennis began to sway, and Cherise stepped in, gathering their glasses. “It’s getting late. You shouldn’t drink anymore!”
“Ms. Leach is finally back from Betrico! Bella and I are so happy Dennis mumbled, already tipsy. “Wait, how many Ms. Leaches are there now? One, two, three, four, five…”

Chapter 318
Before he could finish, he slumped over the table, too drunk to continue.
Cherise called for Bella, and together they helped Dennis to his room to rest.
With the others gone, the brightly lit living room was left with just Morris and Cherise.

Morris sat back lazily in his chair, still smelling of alcohol, his eyes fixed on Cherise. “Cherise, I really need your embrace- and a kiss,” he said with a dreamy look.
He stretched out his arm to pull her close, resting his head against her and snuggling into her warmth.
Cherise feigned annoyance. “I think you’ve had too much to drink. Come on now, let’s get you upstairs to freshen up.”
Morris smiled and followed her, cheerfully trailing behind her like a big kid.
After they had finished washing up, Morris felt completely clear headed.
The second floor had two rooms: one for Cherise and one that Bella had prepared for Morris. Each room offered plenty of privacy.
Morris stood at the door to his room, glancing over at Cherise’s closed door with a hint of longing in his eyes.
He sighed softly and after five minutes, he gathered his courage and gently knocked on her door.
Girls usually took longer to get ready, so Cherise was still busy with her skincare routine.
When she heard the soft knock, she immediately knew who it was.
Shaking her head, she walked over and opened the door.
Before she could say anything, Morris slipped past her and dove into her bed, pulling the covers up around him.
Cherise stood there for a moment, stunned by his sudden move, before she chuckled softly.
Morris, hearing her laughter, poked his head out from under the covers and said, “I can’t sleep alone. This room is too empty. Please share your bed with me!”
