Harold stared at the news on his computer, his face showing stress. “Morris is a clever guy, and now he has a woman who is just as capable by his side. You two don’t belong together, and I won’t allow it.”
His expression turned sneaky and mean.
At the Hawkins residence, Yulia wrapped herself in a thick blanket.
After watching the news about Cherise more than an hour ago, the words Cherise had said to her that day kept flashing through her mind.
“Your demeanor has changed. A fine young lady like you should not belittle herself.”
A sharp headache hit her, and beads of sweat rolled down her forehead.
It felt like the last bit of her dignity had been taken away, leaving her exposed and weak. At the same time, she felt a deep envy for another woman–a jealousy that consumed her entirely
Every graceful move, every skill Cherise had, and every part of her identity was something Yulia desperately wanted but couldn’t have.
She longed for it so much that her jealousy turned into a wish to ruin Cherise.

The moment Camellia stepped out of GlobalVision Group, she called Rita in Hamolica to tell her everything that had happened in Betrico.
Actually, even without her call, Rita already knew what was going on.
At the Muller residence in Hamolica, the night sky was dark, and gentle rain tapped softly, creating an eerie calm.
Inside, Rita sat alone at a table, with fragrant smoke curling up from an incense burner.
The scent was comforting yet mysterious, calming her nerves.
In front of her was a big screen showing a recording of Cherise’s speech from the press conference earlier that day.
She had been watching it intently.
With a voice filled with nostalgia, she said softly, “Megan, after all these years, have you come back? Could Cherise be connected to you?
“Cherise truly shines in a way that makes her hard to like, doesn’t she? Just like you, but she is even harder to warm up to. What do you think I should do about her?”
While everything seemed calm on the outside, hidden troubles were brewing beneath.
Early the next morning, just ten minutes after Camellia arrived at Orlinth Innovations, there was a knock at the door.
A staff member came in, looking anxious. “Ms. Hawkins, we have a problem. A group of uniformed people wants to see you. They say they want to search our place.”
“What?” Camellia stood up quickly upon hearing this.
While she wasn’t as panicked as the staff member, she hadn’t expected this.

Holding up a document, he said, “Ms. Hawkins, hello. Are you the legal representative of Orlinth Innovations?”
Camellia nodded. “Yes. Can I ask what this is about?”
The officer showed the document and said, “We’ve received tips that Orlinth Innovations is involved in malicious short- selling in the stock market. We’re here to search for evidence. We ask for your full cooperation.”
At this, Camellia let out a sarcastic laugh. “With how fierce competition is in business, many companies short–sell each other. So why are we being targeted? This informant is probably Cherise, right?”
The officer said, “We’re just following orders, and we hope you will cooperate. If you refuse, we may need to take stronger action. Search!”
With that command, a dozen officers began a thorough search of the area.
Camellia laughed again. “Ha! It looks like your jobs are at stake. In Betrico, no one is brave enough to challenge the Hawkins family.”
As she spoke, she got ready to act against the approaching officers.
Recognizing her skills, the officer angrily ordered two tall, well–trained subordinates to firmly hold her down.
Though frustrated, Camellia found she had no choice but to accept it.
Ten minutes later, several staff members came out of her office, carrying a pile of documents and a laptop.
Seeing this, Camellia’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You are stealing from me! I will report you for this!”
The officer glanced at the confiscated items and shouted, “Take the evidence and Ms. Hawkins with us.”
“Yes, sir,” the other members replied together.
Camellia chose not to fight back, trying to keep her dignity, firmly believing the Hawkins family would protect her reputation and ensure no stain would tarnish it.
In less than fifteen minutes, the Hawkins family indeed learned that Camellia was under investigation.
Garrick blew up in anger. “I always said her ambitions were too big; what could she possibly achieve? How are we going to save face for the Hawkins family now?”
Even though Gina didn’t care much for Camellia, she couldn’t completely dismiss her as a daughter; claiming to feel nothing for her would be lying. “She is still our family. Are we really going to abandon her?”
Garrick huffed in disgust, shaking his head in irritation as he looked at Gina and dialed a number.
After several rings, the line connected. “Hello, Garrick.”
Hearing the familiar voice, Garrick responded, “Rita, this situation with Camellia might get complicated; what do you think?
There was a brief pause on the other end. “Abandon her.” Rita ended the call.
