The audience felt chills run down their spines while watching the scene.

The tension in the air was thickening
The faculty and students from Betrico University were on edge, anxiously waiting to see if the patient would wake up at the time Cherise had promised..
The students and faculty of Regalwood University were anxious, hoping that once the half–hour passed and the patient woke up, the victory would be theirs.
