Chapter 198
Cherise walked toward the inner room, knocked twice on the door, and went in.
The inner room was Gavino’s bedroom, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere centered around a large mahogany bed.
Gavino was sitting on the bed, facing away from the door.
“Mr. Simpson, it’s Cherise! I’m coming in!” Her voice was soft an gentle, like talking to a child.
Though Gavino had his back to the door, he responded politely “Oh, sweet girl, you’re here. I know you’re talented and I’m afraid of needles, though I look strong.”
As he spoke, his voice became softer and softer.
Cherise chuckled softly. It was amusing that a man once so powerful in the business world had such an endearing side.
She patiently explained, “No needles. Your leg issues are just normal calcium buildup from aging, along with poor blood flow from diabetes. Applying some pressure should work, absolutely no needles needed.”
Gavino’s spirits lifted. He tried to stand up but couldn’t. “Well, could you please assist me? I’m turning 80 to a few days. I feel like I might not have much time left and want to hold a gathering to see my old friends”
Cherise nodded and walked over to him.
Diabetes in middle–aged and older people often resulted in complications. Even with her abilities, Cherise couldn’t completely eradicate the disease; she could only slow it down, making sure its complications don’t rapidly affect the whole body.
When she approached Gavino, he was looking down at his slightly swollen feet.
Seeing her, he said, “Sweet girl, take a look at my feet. Do you think they’re getting worse?”
He sighed and lifted his head.
Suddenly, Gavino stood up quickly, ignoring the pain. His jaw dropped, attempting to speak but unable to find the words. Tears welled up in his eyes. “You. You… You’re Megan. Megan, why haven’t you aged? You still look beautiful.”
Cherise raised her eyebrows. She thought, “Why did Mr. Simpson mistake me for someone else like Mr. Muller of Hamolica did?
Truman and the other two standing behind were momentarily stunned. “No way, is Grandpa using the old mistaken identity trick to chat someone up at his age?”
Before Truman could finish speaking, he was silenced by a glare from George.
“Mr. Simpson. I’m sorry. Perhaps you’ve got the wrong person. My name is Cherise, Cherise gently explained to the somewhat excited Gavino.
Looking down at his feet, she gently supported him. “Please sit down first.”
Gavino focused on her, and after Cherise helped him into a seat, he finally calmed down and wiped the tears running down
his face.
I’m sorry. I did mistake you for someone else. Megan, she’s been gone for a long time.” Gavino shook his head and let out a sigh.

Cherise squatted downt, pressed his foot, and frowned slightly
His foot was in much worse condition than Truman had described. It definitely needed acupuncture to drain the built–up fluids; otherwise, in less than six months, it could decay and potentially lead to amputation.
After thinking for a few seconds, she looked up and said, “Mr. Simpson, do I resemble that Megan you mentioned so much?
Gavino nodded. “Yes, like you, she was a very pretty young girl with pure and comforting eyes.
“Hmm, could you tell me more about Megan? I’m curious about this girl who looks so much like me,” Cherise asked, pretending to be curious.
Gavino nodded, his thoughts drifting back to those years. “Megan is the youngest girl in our group who goes abroad to study. She is as pretty and lively as you.
“Moreover, she is very talented and has good medical skills. She uses acupuncture to help people recover from illnesses.
“Once, she practiced on me, leaving me with needle marks all over my body, and ever since then, I have been scared of
needles.
“I liked her, but it was just a simple, pure liking.
“In her heart, she truly loved another buddy of mine from childhood, Tracey, and later, they ended up together.
“They settled abroad, started a family, and even had a cute little boy.
Later, because of family conflicts, he was forced to return with Megan from abroad, giving up their dreams to come back to
