Especially for Henry, Jeffrey, and Jemma, though they were somewhat regretful deep down, listening to Shirley’s play made them realize she was quite good–graceful and charming, certainly easier to handle than Cherise who had a strong presence. Liam picked up the mic to give his critique. “Shirley, you played this piece beautifully. Your emotional investment was meticulous, and your technique was solid and powerful. Keep pushing forward.
Shirley was overjoyed by the glowing praise from Liam. She gave him a polite bow, hoping to leave a good impression.
However, when she noticed Cherise’s & instead of a perfect 10, an idea sparked in her mind.
Confidently picking up the microphone, she addressed Cherise, “May I ask Master Arlina why the other judges awarded me 10%, but you only gave me an 8?
“Did I play something that didn’t meet your expectations! If there’s an area I didn’t do well in, I’d appreciate it if Master Arlina could point it out so I can improve.
“Or maybe you could horror us with a liye performance? I’m sure many in the audience would love to witness your playing. firsthand.”
Though Shirley appeared humble and courteous as she spoke, her words were sharp and calculated, aiming to push Cherise into the spotlight.
