After a brief introduction of the three judges, today’s piano competition kicked off
The host outlined the rules “Each contestant will perform and res rive scores and feedback from our three judges. julge can give a maximum score of 10 points.
Once all 20 contestants have performed, the top three with the highest total scores from the judges will directly earn spots as intern pianists at the Clusia Pianists‘ Association
Furthermore, after the scoring, each judge can choose their favorite contestant among the top three to mentor and develop
based on their expertise.
This change in rules was only decided this morning, allowing judges to better teach contestants aligned with their style.
“Essentially, our structure today is that judges choose students, not the other way around.
“As for a successor, any of the top three could potentially be one though the first–place winner has a higher chance. However, upon joining, they’ll face numerous challenges.
“Now, I officially announce the start of the Clusia Pianists‘ Association’s piano competition.”
After the host finished speaking, murmurs filled the contestants area.
“I hope my score lands me in the top three–that would move me a step closer to Master Arlina.”
Same here! I’m not picky about the mentor: any of these judges would be amazing
“Me too! I just want to make it to the top three and have a master teach me anyone would be great.”
Shirley had composed herself and was ready to compete, but with this new rule, she was uncertain about studying under Liam
She thought, ‘Doesn’t matter–I will make it to the top three, and Liam will definitely pick me. I’m that good. Just as long as Cherise doesn’t mess things up for me.
After a brief explanation of the competition rules, the host introduced the first contestant. “Our first performer is Miles, a piano performance major from Regalwood University’s Music Department. Please welcome him!”
Miles, a young man with above–average looks and an air of confidence, stepped onto the stage in a black tailcoat and white shirt, showing no sign of nerves.
Once ready. Miles began playing powerful and resonant notes that filled the entire concert hall. The piece he chose was challenging, and his performance was smooth and nearly flawless
After he finished, the three judges conferred, and Liam gave a concise critique of Miles‘ performance.
He said. “This contestant has solid technical skills and fundamentals. There was one part where his fingerwork could have been stronger, but overall, it’s impressive. I hope you continue to improve.”
The judges then scored him in the order of Liam, Tina, and Arlina: 9, 10, and 8. Such high scores right out of the gate sparked admiration from the audience.
Next up was Melody from Broania University, a freshman girl with an adorable appearance who also performed exceptionally well.
She chose to play “Summer, a piece perfectly suited to the season, with its lively and upbeat rhythm that painted vivid pictures.

After her performance, the judges awarded her scores of B, B, and 8, which were also commendable.

r the first 18 contestants had taken their turns on stage, the lost announced once more, “Now, please welcome contestant number 19. Madeline from Betrica University’s Traditional Medicine Department.”
Finally, it was Madeline’s turn. Her friends and supporters from the Traditional Medicine Department in the third row all sat up straight, some focusing intently on the stage, while others scanned the room for her.
Madeline stood up slowly from her seat, took a deep breath, and walked towards the stage.
Her outfit wasn’t as flashy as Shirley’s. She wore a simple black dress that highlighted her naturally elegant features.
Once she reached the center of the stage, she politely nodded to the judges. When her gaze met Cherise’s, Cherise gave her a gentle smile.
Immediately, a wave of gratitude surged within Madeline, and she clenched her fists with determination. She thought, I am going to give it my all, both for myself and to honor Ms. Leach‘ kindness.
With a brief self–introduction, she said, “Hello, judges. I’m Madeline from Betrico University’s Traditional Medicine Department, and today will be playing “The Dream.”
After bowing respectfully, she walked over to the grand piano and sat down gracefully. As her fingers touched the keys, a beautiful and captivating melody began to flow seamlessly from her playing.
In the judges‘ seats, Liam’s eyes widened in surprise. He glanced over at Cherise, realizing instantly that this was her composition. It must be her first piece in three years.
