Chapter 94: Together Again
The hospital hallways were quiet except for doctors talking softly and machines beeping. Daniel walked quickly through the clean–smelling halls, helping Anya as they headed to the exit. Though they had been through something scary, Daniel was focused on making sure Anya was okay.
When they got to the hospital, Daniel helped Anya through the sliding doors. Inside, everything was clean and quiet. A doctor wearing a white coat came to them with a kind smile.
“Mr. Shaw, you’re here for Mrs. Shaw’s checkup. Please follow me,” the doctor said.
In the doctor’s office, he explained how Anya was doing and what care she needed. But Daniel got frustrated listening to the doctor. Even though the doctor said Anya would get better quickly, Daniel didn’t believe it. He thought Anya needed more care and watching.
Not happy with the doctor saying Anya was just thirsty and had some small cuts, Daniel left the room. He called a special doctor who was known for being very good and private, asking them to fly in to help.
Anya thought Daniel was worrying too much, but she didn’t know how to calm him down. She could tell he just needed something to do. She told him she wanted to go home and rest, so he carried her out of the hospital.
When they got to the doors, cool air hit their faces, feeling different from the hospital air. The street lights made everything look peaceful, very different from the rescue that had just happened.
Daniel carefully helped Emma into their car, making sure she was comfortable in the leather
seats.
As they drove through the city, Daniel’s phone kept buzzing. He saw many missed calls from

his grandfather. He sighed, knowing he’d have to carefully explain everything.
As they left the hospital, Daniel’s phone was full of messages.
Finally, he answered his grandfather’s call, trying to sound calm. “Grandfather, we had a security problem. I had to use a lot of our private security team. Everything’s okay now.”
His grandfather’s stern voice came through the phone. “Security problem? Tell me what happened, Daniel.”
Daniel, who was good at handling family questions, gave a quick answer. “There was a possible danger to the family. I had to keep everyone safe.”
His grandfather didn’t sound happy. “This better be worth it, Daniel. We can’t waste money.
“Trust me, Grandfather, it was needed,” Daniel said, hanging up before more questions came,
Then Daniel’s father called, and Daniel answered. His father sounded worried.
“Daniel, what’s going on? I’ve been trying to call you,” his father asked.
Daniel calmly told him everything–how Anya was kidnapped and how they rescued her. His father got angry hearing this.
“Someone dared to take someone from our family… They must think we’re weak,” his father said in a dangerous voice.
“Anya told me one of the kidnappers was her uncle’s butler,” Daniel explained.
“Good that it wasn’t our enemies. But still, put more security on her to be safe,” his father

said.
“Yes, father.”
“Don’t worry about your grandfather complaining about using the family security team. I’ll give him something else to think about. What will you do about Anya’s father?”
“He’s easy to deal with. I’ll let Anya decide what happens to him.”
“What kind of father kidnaps his daughter? If that’s normal for him, I won’t say anything, but how dare a nobody take a Shaw family wife?”
Daniel’s mother, hearing them talk, quietly left to pray at their home’s Buddha shrine. Soon they could hear prayer bells ringing.
Daniel’s father heard the bells and said, “Take care of her. I have to go–your mother has become Buddhist again.”
“Father, we’re okay, and Anya is safe. Go find mother; she probably thinks I’m about to lose my wife,” Daniel said calmly.
After the call ended, Daniel carried Anya into their house. Being home felt very different from all the scary things that had just happened.
At home, Emma would get better, watched over by a family ready to protect her.
Seeing their familiar home, Anya felt so happy and relieved that she fell asleep in Daniel’s
arms.
