“You really are going to press charges? Have you decided to let go of the land development project, then?” Martha asked, and Mr. Leslie sneered. This old woman thinks she can threaten him with this?
“The harm your daughter has caused is more than that meager little land development project. How can you even mention it?” Mr. Leslie said, and Martha frowned. She wondered if news of their company’s issues had made its way to him. She had only told Kelsey to help get with a project. It should not be already disclosed that they were facing bankruptcy, right?
“You are going to keep throwing accusations at my granddaughter?” Martha asked.
“Because of how you and your granddaughter have handled issues with Anya, we cannot even get into the good graces of the upper families. Do you know who your other granddaughter is married to?” he asked, and Martha got suspicious.
His question raised alarm bells for Sandra. She knew by his words that Anya had married well. Not just well, someone better than the Leslies. She did not want Martha to abandon her daughter. She panicked and grabbed Andrew by the hair again.

“You are trying to shift blame when this brothel of a son you have dared to cheat on my daughter?” she shouted.
In the midst of the chaos, Mr. Leslie made a bold declaration.

Lydia’s father rubbed his temple tiredly, while his wife looked out the window with disinterest.
“You keep a man hostage from his wife and children for over a decade just so you can use a machine to wipe his memory. Boy, just any man, James Grey.” Lydia’s father scolded.
“Why are you scolding me? If you had supported having me marry him all those years ago, would I have gone this far?” Hannah shouted back.
Lydia saw her mother roll her eyes. Her father rubbed his temple again and took a deep breath.
“You kept him unconscious for 17 years. Should you be worried about where he takes his wife? Shouldn’t you be worried about Elder Brother’s business that is going under because of you? Are you saying you don’t know that the person doing all this to your brother’s company is James Grey?”
“I did this for the family!” Hannah shouted.
Lydia’s mother spotted her perched on the stairs and got up.
“Please have her leave before I come back down. I don’t want to have a headache all day,” she said to her husband, and Hannah went hot in rage.
Lydia’s mother ignored her shouting and went up stairs.
“Are you done packing?” She asked Lydia, and Lydia responded with a nod and walked back to her room with her mother. She was returning to campus today.

“What is Aunty so angry about? Dad’s company is just a supply company. How can Dad help her?” Lydia asked.
“Your dad is in a crucial position right now. Only his materials have been approved by the government for distribution right now, and he is supplying to a lot of companies, including the Madison Group and the Shaw Group.”
“Are those companies important?” Lydia asked.
“The heirs to the Shaw and Madison families are married to James Grey’s daughters. Since James Grey is pressuring your eldest uncle, she wants your father to pressure him by refusing to supply to those families,” her mother explained.
“I am guessing grandma agreed to this.” Lydia could see her grandmother’s stance from a mile away.
“She declared that your father has no relationship with both families or anyone related to James Grey,” Lydia’s mother said.
“This won’t affect dad, right?” she asked.
“As long as your dad does not bother with them, it is fine. Hurry and get ready,” the mother rushed her, and Lydia hurriedly changed. By the time she was done dragging her suitcase down the stairs, her aunt Hannah was leaving.
She nearly cursed out loud when the woman saw her. Hannah’s face fell, and a sneer escaped her lips.
“You don’t even come down to greet your aunt,” Hannah said.

“Aunt was busy wailing to the gods to strike down her bloodline with lightning; I dare not come down. What if I got struck?” Lydia said, and Hana turned red.

How could she have forgotten that this niece of hers has a sharp tongue? Even if she was half drunk or half mad, she could still understand what her niece was saying.
She was implying that she wanted to kill the entire family because she was the reason for James Grey’s anger towards the entire Stone family.
Before she could respond, Lydia got into the car, and it drove away.
Lydia was comforted that this matter did not affect her family, so she went about her days in university without issues. As long as they did not involve themselves in drama, it would not come to be her family’s motto.
Her father had drummed this into the skulls of she and her brothers.
In fact, the entire branch of Lydia’s family has been known for one thing by the rest of the family: their ability to stay out of drama. Rarely ever were there quarrels, embarrassing moments, and definitely not fights. This has been so since her father and mother got married and moved away from the main family. Now, it is not that they particularly go out of their way to avoid drama, but drama itself avoids them.
When their neighborhood was caught in a drug scandal, because of chocolate, some boys baked and sold in the area till the neighbors were all addicted, The Stones. All 8 of them got miraculously sick with measles and were hospitalized at the same time for up to two months. When the police arrested the chocolate–selling boys, when the neighborhood was on TV every other day, they were trapped in the hospital without ever tasting one bit of that chocolate.
These are a few of the examples of the Stones just missing drama by a hair, that it was almost magical.
But all families had that one child most talented than the rest. If drama was a god, it had but

one enemy. This was Lydia Stone. And ironically, she was the one with the most interest in watching drama.
And Lydia has over the years come to enjoy watching a good live show without fear that she would ever be dragged in. But if one danced too close to the fire, there is a chance of their skirt at least smelling of smoke.
But she never could have imagined what drama she was about to be involved in.
It was a long, sunny day. Lydia looked at her lecturer droning on and knew she could not make it to the end of this lecture. She shot her roommate, Cindy, a desperate look that was filled with accusation. Lydia felt that if she stayed any longer, she would explode in her pants and make a spectacle of herself. So, she stood up abruptly, handed her things to her roommate, whose eyes hovered around Lydia full of apology, excused herself, and rushed out without waiting to hear the lecturer’s response.
