“I will hand over the share in my hands, please send her back,” Old Master Grey said and James ended the call. 

Janet was relieved when she was delivered to the family mansion. 

She walked into the living room to find her husband seated there waiting. 

“Sit,” Old Master Grey ordered and she stiffened before walking over and taking a seat. 

“I have bargained with James on your behalf for the last time. You seem to have forgotten your place,” he said and she went pale. 

“So, you do resent me for having no family backing,” she said. 

“I resent that you look down on others for not having it, despite when you don’t. The Jones family may not be anything great, but they are definitely better than yours who does not exist,” he said and her eyes watered. 

“My children stay away. They earn their children to stay away. Now, James is a grandfather and I will probably never see his grandchildren despite being alive. I am done with you. I have informed all the aspects of the family that you have no authority. If you ever disturb James and his family again, I will divorce you,” He warned and got up to leave. 

“Divorce? At our age?” she asked. 

“Being a grey has gotten to your head. The next mistake you make, you will no longer be a grey,” he threw those words and left her behind.

As they arrived at the Greene family ball, Stella could not help but frown. 

“Smile baby, we are in public today. The green family are friends of mine,” he said. 

She took a deep breath and settled on a light look on her face. She did not forget that in the ballroom were people from the underworld, affiliated to the a family like the Green. 

She told herself, tonight, she and James were in love and married. She had to try and remember what that felt like. 

With a lot of tension building in the air around them, they stepped into the grand event. She was still pissed at James but could not let it show. When she recalled the heated look in his eyes, Stella scoffed internally. He is so good at acting, he should have joined Hollywood. 

As the green family made their grand entrance into the opulent ballroom, all eyes turned towards James and Stella, and the whispers and talk spread through the crowd. 

People could not help but look at Stella a few time. She was James’s wife. The one they had 

heard of. 

The news of James’s marriage had spread like wildfire through the upper echelons of underworld years ago, but she was barely seen. Seeing his wife in the flesh, people just could not help themselves.” 

Many people were not sure how to interact with her, but some were bold. Some thing about her small statue in contrast to James made them feel she was a soft woman. 

“So that is Mrs. Grey,” one guest murmured to another, their eyes fixated on Stella’s figure as she made her way into the ballroom on James’s arm. 

“That must be the wife,” another whispered and they all suddenly thought of the woman who James‘ mother had been carrying around in his absence. She was a soft spoken weak woman. They wondered if Stella was the same. 

“I wonder what tricks she had to play to win his heart,” someone else chuckled, promptin a mutters of mockery to spread through the little group of women. 

James sensed Stella’s discomfort immediately and drew her closer, wrapping a protective arm around her shoulders and holding her against his side.. 

“Don’t worry, Stella,” he whispered to her, “This is the Green family’s event. You don’t need to be wary of anyone here. The Greens are like family to me. They’re in your turf. You can do as you like.” 

Stella forced a smile, and took a deep breath. She told herself that she had faced worse. She had even had to cut off a man’s hand while acting. This was nothing. 

But her nerves was because she had a bad feeling in her heart. Something told her, it would not 

be a simple night. This made her nervous 

“I know, James. Don’t worry, I won’t break character,” she said. 

“That is not what I meant,” he answered. She had put a wall since their last conversation and he was not sure how to handle this. 

As the whispers and curious stares continued to follow them, James noted the eyes of men and his possessiveness was triggered. She looked good, but she belonged to him and he did not want anyone staring at her. 

Without a word, he slipped an arm around her slender waist and pulled her against his side, letting his gaze brazenly roam over the curves of her body. To anyone watching, it was clear he was staking his claim. 

Maria and Christopher Green could not help but sigh. Their Godson was easily jealous. What was he doing at his age? 

Stella’s cheeks burned when he did this. 

“Are you crazy?” she scolded him. 

“What is crazy about this?” he asked. 

“Would it hurt you to behave?” she asked. 

“I am holding my wife, what is wrong with that?” he asked. 

James looked towards the gathered crowds with a dangerous look in his eyes. It was a warning for people to look away 

Those looking had to restrain themselves. James only warned people once and it seemed he was overly protective of his wife. 

“Behave!” Stella scolded James. 

“You’ll have to excuse me,” James whispered to Stella, “But I simply must introduce my radiant wife to everyone here tonight.” And Stella suddenly had a bad feeling. 

“Don’t do anything stupid,” she scolded him, trying to hold him back. But James was on a mission. If she had not known he was parading her for show, she would have though he won a lottery. 

Her cheeks were so hot she was shocked they had not burnt by now. Her heart racing as she felt herself becoming suspicious of James’s open adoration. 

Something was going on. The feeling that something was about to happen was even stronger 

in her heart. 

James’s arm tightened around her waist, drawing her even closer until she could feel the beating of his heart against her side as he made his way to a small group.
