Chapter 135: GOOD CITIZENS. 

Daniel glanced at his wife, sitting in a daze. 

“Baby, go and rest a bit,” he said softly, and Anya wanted to protest, but she was tired. The entire day drained her. 

She gave Daniel a look, and he assured her he would follow her up in a bit. 

Only then did she get up and leave. 

Daniel and fein went ahead and copied the evidence into another flash drive. 

Daniel tightened his grip on the evidence in his hands, a dark look in his eyes. 

“What do you want to do about it?” Justin asked. He had been the one to open the ring and show the contents, but he was still too shocked to believe they actually had it. 

“What else? We are good citizens,” Daniel chuckled darkly. 

“Should I forward this to the agency then? But they can’t be trusted.” Justin said and walked over to the sofa to take a seat. 

“I just know he would run to them if we were on the heat a bit. He will call in favors.” Daniel chuckled. 

“What will you do then?” Justin asked. 

“All those there have enemies. Why do I need to search for those to send it to? I just need

Inside the president’s office, the phone on his desk started ringing insistently. He picked it up with irritation.

The voice on the other side crackled through the speaker a bit before answering. “Sir, Daniel Shaw is back in the capital with his wife. Our agents have tried to get close but cannot.” 

The president’s grip tightened around the phone when he heard these words. 

“Explain,” he ordered. 

“Our operatives were intercepted at the city limits of the capital city,” the person on the phone continued. “Our agents all over the capital have been exposed. We did not realize the Shaw family had that much information. After the incident in Appletown, they retaliated. Many of our agents have been attacked. We have no evidence. It is the Shaw family, but it is 

likely them.” 

A muscle twitched in the president’s jaw as he massaged his temple. He could not understand what he was hearing. “How does one family get their hands on such information?” The president asked, “Are you telling me that there is a possibility that the Shaw family knows the identity of agents in the capital?” 

“All evidence points that way, sir. What are your orders, sir?” the person asked. 

The president realized that when Helen Shaw died, he had not really fought the Shaw family head–on before. Was this their true capability? He wondered. 

“Ready the team again,” he said at last. “This time, we are taking the wife. If not possible, take family. Force him out in the open, no matter the cost. I don’t believe that Daniel will not bow if we have his wife.‘

The person on the other end answered, “Yes, sir. I’ll make the necessary arrangements.” 

The line went dead, leaving the president alone in his office. He was the president of the country. He would use all of the country’s power to suppress the Shaw family. He was curious to know if that family fought the entire country. 

In the Shaw mansion, Daniel calls his father and grandfather to a video call. 

“You are back,” his father said. 

“Yes. And Justin brought back the contents of the safe. But it did not have the evidence,” Daniel‘ said. 

“Then, what now?” Ray asked. 

“Oh, we have the evidence,” Daniel smiled. 

“I thought you said… Where did you find it?” Michael asked his son. 

“Anya had it all along,” Daniel said, and the two men raised a brow 

“In the safe were drawings of a ring. A microtechnology Anya recognized that she had a ring that looked like this. When she handed it over, it was the same ring, It was a storage device. All the evidence was inside,” Daniel explained. 

“All this while,” Ray was amazed.

“How do you want to deal with this?” Ray asked. 

“Of course the country should know. I do want the attorney general to see what we have. Can you handle that, Grandpa?” Daniel asked. 

“Sure. But I have heard word that they are mobilizing more troupes in the capital. It seems he knows you already have the evidence,” Ray said. 

“If so, you need to be careful. He will become dangerous.,” Michael said.

“Or more reckless,” Daniel‘ said. 

“You have a plan,” Ray said. 

“If we just handed over the evidence to the attorney general, even if he is enemies with the president, he will be cautious. Accusing the president of the country is not a simple matter. He will probably have this checked, and the president has his hands everywhere. He could suppress the entire matter. But if he is reckless… Daniel said. 

“The Attorney General will definitely think there is something to it,” Ray said. 

“Forget the attorney general. When this gets out to the public. Every single action of his is an admission of guilt. It is good to be reckless,” Michael said. 

Daniel nodded and took a swig of his whiskey. “The more reckless he is, the more credibility he gives the evidence,” Daniel said darkly. 

Daniel left for work that afternoon to deal with some matters in the office. He had only been there an hour when he received a message. 

Looking at his phone, he saw that it was Mercy. He knew she was in hiding, as Justin had helped hide her. 

He also knew she had contacts inside the government agencies, as she was keeping him up to date. 

Daniel received her message stating that the newly formed unit was sending agents to interrogate Anya today. 

Daniel knew that with what was going on right now, there was no one he could trust with Anya’s safety. 

Chapter 135 GOOD CITIZENS. 

The message read, A squad from the newly formed investigative unit was on its way to the Rose mansion; they have a warrant. They claim they only want to proceed with light questioning. 

Light questioning? What did that even mean? According to Mercy’s message, they had a warrant. Daniel felt the need to curse. A warrant meant if they got to Anya first, they could 

take her. 

Daniel was not stupid. This was the president’s move. He could definitely order a warrant that quickly. 

Daniel rushed out of his office and sped toward the elevator. He had to get home did. Water they wanted to ask Anya, they had to do it in his presence. 

He got to his car and jumped in.

He kept one eye on the road and the other scanning his rearview mirror, afraid of obstruction that could get in his way. He needed to get home fast. But his fears had soon come to pass. As a traffic police stopped him. 

“No, no, no,” he muttered under his breath, pounding the steering wheel in frustration. He did not have time for this. 

Daniel had no legitimate reason to ignore the police. It would make things worse. 

He slowly moved to the left lane until reaching the traffic officers, waving him to stop, and stopped before them.
