Chapter 76
Roxanne gave him a strange look but answered honestly, “Nathaniel and those two had already pulled out their knives and were talking about raping me before killing me. Do you think I would’ve had a good ending if I fell into their hands? Jumping off was any best chance. I figured I might actually survive.”
Roxanne’s thoughts were simple. If she was going to die anyway, and on top of that, be humiliated and tortured first, she might as well take the plunge herself. But truthfully, she had some confidence in surviving. Since climbing and running away had taken a long time, she estimated that by the time she reached the top, it must have been past midnight.
Her infamous Enking skill would’ve been back in action. As she jumped, she cursed herself to have dumb luck and survive. As much as she hated to admit it, she had to acknowledge that Sebastian was her dumb luck.
Sebastian’s eyes grew darker as he listened. “Why didnt you try to stall for more time? You could’ve trusted me.”
Roxanne immediately lost her appetite. She pushed the tray away, crossed her arms, and looked at him with an amused expression
“Sebastian, don’t you think you’re being ridiculous? Why should i trust someone who used me as bait? You put me in danger and expect me to trust you unconditionally–how does that make sense? I remember making it very clear that your credibility with me is zero.” Her tone was laced with impatience.
“All your so–called special treatment and favoritism–it’s all for Llana, not me. Why would I take a gamble? You’re not worth betting on.”
A storm brewed in Sebastian’s eves. He nanowed them and said in a low voice, “Am I really that untrustworthy?”
Roxanne let out a laugh, amused by his question. She met his gaze with a serious expression. “Sebastian, let me ask you something ” |_|\_\ “Go ahead.”
“If I were kidnapped by Nathaniel and he demanded that you exchange Liana for me, would you do it?”
Seluastian didn’t answer and furrowed his brows.
Roxanne chocked sortly. No response was the best answer.
cbastian realized it too, and his gaze darkened further. Suddenly, he stood up. “Get some rist. I have something to attend to.” Watching him leave in a hry, Roxanne shrugged indifferently. That was Sebastian for you. In business, he was decisive, ruthless, and always in control. But when it came to emut lors, he was completely inept. If he didn’t know how to handle something, he just ignored it. He ran from it.
That was why Rosanne had been exhausted all these years. Whenever the questioned his favoritism toward Liana, he would brush it off with, “I only
“I only see her as a
If the pressed further, like why he spent her birthday with Llana or why the gift meant for her ended up with Liana, he would simply buy her another gift. If she kept pushing he would grow impatient. Either he would bury himself in work or he would take a long business trip and disappear for days,
Each time, she would reflect on herself, suppress her own trelings, and heal herself. Then, she would be the one to reach out first, trying to make peace. Only then would Sebastian “graciously come back
Owntime, she led not to ask and not to speak up. She loved him so much that she had trapped herself in a cycle of self–doubt and self–denial. It was exausting. But at least now, the had broken tree.
She no longer longed for Sebastian’s love. And the way he was handling this pow–cold and distant–actually made her happy-
Besides, this whole kidnapping situation wasn’t entirely bad thing
