Chapter 5
It was a state, of course, it was part of the plans, but I am enjoying myself far too much for this to be merely something off in the contract
I ́s been a month and my divorce has been finalized. It wasn’t easy for my parents to accept the fact that I was divorcing Eric, and I never told them
the reason anyway.
My sister, of course, pretended to have no idea since I hadn’t spoken to her since moving back into the house and through the divorce, but my eyes were unly focused on the moments after it.
This is the
moment I’m supposed to be curled up inside my blanket and bawling my eyes out with tears, but here I am, in an open restaur
restaurant with many people having this delicious meal with Matteo.
TÅLE YOU BIFe they have gotten emagh photographs aheady! They seem to be leaving I tried not to look at the paparazzi he had sent as we both. leaned in and just let the laughter and unile bubble from in
I thought it was going to be so unnatural, but here we are, the conversation going so smoothly.
“You never told me why you closed your work. I always thought it was wonderful, I mean, the work you do. Was it worth it?
He took a sip of his drink and stired at my face, waiting for an answer.
At that moment I had been going through the divorce, thinking about how much I had given up just to stay with that food who always had me going ⠀mits, and I never liked any of that
“Let’s just say I was foolish enough to think he would appreciate that
And I was serious
Suddenly, he is looking at me with so much tenderness in his eyes that I have to wave off immediately
“I mean, back then being a housewife sounded good, and I thought it was something I would love to do. I shrugged, trying not to let the pain of that moment close off from me,
“Yeah, it’s fine. I mean, you never expected it.”
Looking back, the whole paparazzi had all gone off
“Well, I think that went well”
to force it, and when he smiled back I knew there was something there, just
I let the smile that adorned my face be so perfect he didn’t have to something.
The door burst open and Mother walked into the living room.
What sort of news am I hearing?” She was tall and always so intimidating, especially to me. But right now, I don’t care.
Looking behind her, I could see my sister Joyce holding her hands tighter as there was not a single sign of remorse on her face
1 rolled the hot, scorching alcohol on my hand before taking a sip.
“What exactly did you hear, mother?”
I knew the pictures had spread like wildfire, of course, we allowed it to spread, how else would they hear the news!
“I can’t believe you are going after Eric’s brother. Is that not so stupid of you Birdie?”
Joyce called out from where she was standing at the back and I held myself less. I hurl this glass right into her skull.
et my hold on the bottle tighten.
“I don’t know what you are talking about, what is so wrong with that?” I sent a look her way and she didn’t look away anyway.
The fact that I haven’t seen told our parents what made me divorce Eric, yet they sided with him even when they knew they would side with joyer, which made me just overlook it all and let it all go away-
“What are you doing? Drinking in the afternoon? What is wrong with you?” She turned back, “Johnson, can you see your daughter? She is drinking

in the middle of the day“.
My father, a middle–aged man of about 54 with white hair that makes him look so youngish, and a version of me walked into the living room
1 gripped the bottle tighter because I knew he was the only one who would make me let go of the bottle.
“What are you doing?” His eyes made me drop the bottle on the table.
“Nothing. I’m not doing anything I stood to walk out of the living room when a loud ringing stopped me from taking another step.
It was Joyce’s phone.
She took out the phone, placing it on her eyes.
I stood rooted at the place as we all seemed to be looking at her as she took the call.
“What?” Her eyes bulged out as she took the phone off her ears and looked at the screen.
My hand dropped to my pocket as a look of interest spread through my eyes.
“What do you mean? What are you saying?”
I could see the panic that spread through her eyes, it was a bliss to watch.
“She dropped the phone as her mother walked to where she was standing
“What is it, my angel?” She asked, looking concerned.
She raised her head and stared at me, with so much animosity dancing through her eyes.
“What have you done?”
A slide smile prickled on my face as I shrugged.
“Depends on what you are asking”
She matched down to where I was standing, forcefully placing the phone in my hand as my parents all ran to look at the phone.
The headline was big and bold
“The Corruption Of Eric Rodriguez, the heir of Laskay Cooperation” I read out loudly as a smirk spread through my face.
When I looked at her with her eyes holding back the emotions she was f
was feeling, I let a grin spread through my cheeks.
“Interesting” I muttered, placing the phone back in her hand just as she had done and I walked away.
This is just the beginning, I will make sure that everything Eric has ever worked hard for falls right in his eyes.
When I walked away, the first thought in my mind was Matteo, I needed to call him at the earliest.
